I saw a quick mention in another thread that someone shopped at Fadler. What is your impression? I know that it is not Harvard Meats Naturally raised but what do you think of the quality? I am having a party this weekend and considering purchasing hamburger patties from there for the party (lazy man's grilling[:I])

Just go to Sam's ..
Go to Sam's unless you want beef made from Cows, then go to Fadler's.
Sam's is overpriced nowadays and their "membership fee" is a joke.
If you're buying for a few people go to Harvard Meats, serving a crowd, go to Fadler's. Their beef is raised, butchered, and packed locally. After one trip I cancelled my Sam's membership and never went back.

I held a Sam's card for a couple of years until I found out it was easier and cheaper to either buy it from Wal Mart, or get it on the Internet.
If I got it from the Internet, the wait would be about the same as waiting in line at Sams... [:O]
Infant formula is a hell of a lot cheaper at Sam's. We have had a membership through my in-laws business so we don't have to pay for it. We have started going to Sam's on a more frequent trips to Sam's for formula and diapers.
We do catch ourselves, making sure it is truly a deal before we buy something at Sam's.
Sam's membership is corporate so no expense to me, and I am feeding just about a dozen people. I have heard good things about Harvard Meats but frankly assumed the prices would be considerably higher. I am told the Oklahoma Food COOP has great beef also but prices are high there as well.
I love Bruner's and Siggy's, but my wife has recently started buying the hamburger meat at Sam's, and honestly I have to say it's every bit as good, and half the price.
I thought someone had said previously that Fadlers went out of business? Its the one across from Sam's right? Their burgers were AMAZING, and they will have them fresh and patties made for pickup if you call ahead. They were wonderful to deal with. If I had known they were still in business I would have been there lately. And I compared prices, the burgers were very comparable to Sam's, unless you want the fake frozen ones, and the quality was much higher!

If you are looking to impress, by all means buy at Harvard Meats. Otherwise grocery store quality will work. I'm pretty loyal to Duke at HM. While you are there, buy one of their whole chickens and smoke it for four hours. I've never had a better bird in your life.

The President died in a car accident but they are still open.
If you have a way to grind it (like a grinder attachment on a Kitchen Aid mixer) Get a brisket with a nice thick slab of fat and grind your own. Best hamburger you will ever have. You can even grind in pepper corns, or garlic or whatever while you are at it.
+1^^^

Things where questionable during the Hale Halsell failure. The group taking over Fadler also took over Hodges Meats
for great service and really old school butcher shop I still love Perry's at 11/Lewis
Most of the meats at Sam's have a ship load of salt added. My mother is sodium sensitive (blood pressure) so we both look for sodium levels.
What about National Steak and Poultry in Owasso. They are having their sale this coming weekend...I have never gotten anything bad. The burger patties are single packaged, so you can cook all of them...or just 1.

Hey, this is Tulsa Now, not Owasso now. Unless you live in Owasso, you are promoting
SUBURBAN SPRAWL [:D]
Yours with sarcasm from the north edge of Bixby.

That's a great suggestion carltonplace, one most people wouldn't think of these days. I have ground my own meats many times; at least that way you can control the fat content and you know exactly "what is in there."
I use a 1949 Dormeyer "Power Chef" mixer that was my mother's. It has meat grinder, fruit juicer, and pasta maker attachments and is nearly identical in appearance and function to today's Kitchen Aid mixers. Still going strong after 59 years, with only a power cord & plug replacement. Kitchen Aid must have copied their design from Dormeyer.

You have some very cool antique appliances Steve. I have a Hamilton Beach Shake machine that you would probably love. It's Aquamarine in color from the late 40's and in pristine condition. Its really the only old appliance I have other than an ancient floor buffer.

My 1949 Dormeyer mixer was a wedding present to my parents when they married in May 1950. Works absolutely perfectly today, and will be going strong when I am long gone!
Funny, my mother never used the mixer attachments. She would often grind leftover meats such as beef, ham, turkey to make sandwich salads, but she always used an old-fashioned hand crank grinder that she used to clamp onto the end of the kitchen table! She never used the power mixer for this, so all my mixer attachments are in like-new condition. And I still have the old hand crank grinder too.

so what you are saying is Fadler's gets their meat from Swift? Because that is where Applebee's sources their meat from.
Don't know about Applebees but I just went there this afternoon and watched Jamil's picking up their meat order.
