Title: NIN coming to Tulsa
Post by: TeeDub on August 18, 2008, 03:34:49 PM

At least someone I am interested in is coming to the BOK Center.

Just an FYI (sgrizzle), tickets go pre-sale tomorrow.

Seriously. Can they fill the BOK Center?

I remember when they played the Cain's. When was that? Had to be nearly 20 years ago.

You may be remembering someone else; they weren't very popular until 'The Downward Spiral' came out, which was about 1993 IIRC.

I believe their configuration for the concert will lend itself to about 9000 seats.

I was hip to NIN before Downward Spiral, my friend. Drove many miles with a Pretty Hate Machine cassette blasting in my car and many a weekend dancing my butt off to "Head Like a Hole" on the upper level at SRO.

Found this reference (//%22http://www.djbadger.com/badgerhistory.htm%22) to the show:
quote:
March 1990:  Depeche Mode released Violator.  Also, I went to the Cain's Ballroom to see Nine Inch Nails live, as an opening act for Peter Murphy, formerly of Bauhaus fame.  I was initially within 4-5 rows from the stage, but during the end of the NIN set, I accidentally got involved in my first (and last) mosh pit, and quickly moved further back in the crowd to a safer area.

I've moved on from those days, but I caught a bit of NIN on HD when flipping through the channels last week. It was actually good. I wouldn't quite fit into that crowd anymore, though!

I was in the car on the way to see them at the Ford Center when I heard.

Guess I'll have to go twice.

And yes, many of us are probably a bit old for the mosh pit.. But, oh well.

When the lights came on there was a pile of hair at my feet. Luckily it wasn't mine.

really....NIN is an act better suited for a Cain's size venue.  I guess Reznor doesn't think Cain's can hold his ego er greatness er whatever.

Probably a third or a little more. That is 6,000-7,000 people. Brady and cains hold what, a couple hundred?

Brady holds a lot more than a couple of hundred.  It was packed for Orbital and it was packed last time STP was in town.

NIN can probably fill half of that third of Bok, just because ticket prices are cheap.

I just saw them at the ford center and they had probably 6,000 people there. At the ford center they used no upper bowl seating and moved the stage closer to the end.

Brady holds 2750 from my recollection.

They should be able to fill the seats on sal.,e easy pretty sure they are pimping a new CD and most likely will have plenty of radio stations pimping there tickets.

For some reason, I'm thinking NIN may have played IKON a very long time ago, anyone remember?  Anyone know Davit well enough to call and ask him?

And I used to love to stand or sit on the lower level and watch the gals with mini skirts and no panties dance their butts off on the upper level. [:O]

Davit used to hang out at the house across the street from me and I know him well enough to chat a little when I see him, but I don't have his phone or email.  I'd be interested to know if NIN ever played IKON.

The earliest reference to a NIN show in Tulsa was in 1994 at Expo Square with Marilyn Manson and the Jim Rose Circus.

There was a show scheduled in Tulsa in 1990, but it was canceled. No other specifics.

Source here:

http://www.theninhotline.net/nin_historian/tour_dates.html

I saw NIN at the first Lollapalooza tour in 1991 in the Chicago suburb of Tinley Park. It became readily apparent at that show that Reznor was going to be a big star, just because of that amazing voice.

I don't know how he still has vocal chords all these years later; he's gotta be a freak of nature.

Fail.

If you're going to Rickroll someone, make sure the preview image doesn't give that away...

got dom, entertainment director was about to give up on this thread, until he (i) read this post.

The rest of you are idiots.  If you don't like NIN, then don't go.

Whether you like it or not, you WANT acts like this to come through BOk.

lol at the failed rickroll. :D new motivation for entertainment director to show you how to do it proper.  I think I am going to hit up political forum first :D

I wasn't trying to "rickroll" anyone. I thought the NIN song and Astley's song sorta married up well.
