Title: What was the "big" announcement in Bixby
Post by: Ibanez on August 12, 2008, 06:53:53 PM
today?

I know this probably belongs in The Burbs, but that sub forum is dead.

Anyway.....heard there was some "Big" development announcement for Bixby today but I haven't seen anything on the news or their websites.

I must have missed it too... the only news I heard was that the Stone Temple Pilots are coming to town.

That was the big news.

They will be playing at the new Spirit Bank event Center on Memorial.

The facility is gorgeous. We toured it a couple of days ago. Bixby should be very proud of the job that the Remy family did on this complex.

A forum is dead only if no one posts there.

I found it.

Big news (//%22http://www.zwire.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=20013568&BRD=2754&PAG=461&dept_id=574062&rfi=6%22)

Kinda cool, but not what I would call "big news." I also don't like the fact that they don't say exactly where it will be built. Makes it seem pie in the sky to me when that sort of thing is said.

8 basketball courts and two hockey rinks is pretty big.

Bixby is a good place for this. I would hope they can get it near the river which is the area they've been wanting to develop.

"Site for the 250,000 square foot Eddie Sutton National Sports Center for Drug Free Youth facility has not yet been selected other than it is in Bixby and south of 121st St."

I guess they really couldn't name it "Eddie Sutton National Sports Center for Drug/Alcohol Free Youth" now could they??

Is this going to be something like a YMCA that offers monthly memberships or what?

I said the same thing to my wife last night.

She didn't see the humor in it.

Damn OSU grads.

The more good concert venues we have the more and the better concerts we will have happen here.  So the Spirit Center (name sounds tooo new agey to me) and the BOK are both working to bring in concerts we otherwise would never have seen.  The more the better.

OMG...how embarrassing for BOk center.  I am beginning to like the fact they built it though...so all the crappy shows will go there and all the good shows will be within walking distance.  who needs to live downtown when you've got this?

I think you have it backwards inteller. ZZTop is an awesome group but they have gone to crap in concert as of recent. It's like watching alzheimers karaoke.

Yeah, really embarassing.  Let's hear it for the 'three old geezers with two having badgers glued to the face' tour!

They need to stop living in the Eighties, because since then, IMO, their music stinks.

from the attendance at the 80s rock fest in Pryor, I don't think most people agree with you two.  the show will probably sell out.

so far it looks like their only failure is Uncle Kracker.....but maybe they'll move that show to the Toilet BOkwl.

Not difficult to sell out when you only have 4500 seats.

And rockfest?  come on.  More people went there to drink than anything else.  I know; I've been to that thing a time or two.  If I want to see 80s bands I'll wait when they come play at the Cain's.
