Okay its driving me nuts. For about a year we were seeing Ruby Tuesday commercials in our area and finally bam. A Ruby Tuesday is built. Now we have been seeing Dave and Buster ads for a while and bam, now their building a Dave and Busters. So now for the past 6 - 8 months we have been seeing Dunkin Donuts commercials in our area, does that mean we will finally have some Dunkin Donuts in town. Please someone tell me its so?
ohhhh, if only....i love me some dunkin donuts. i'm keeping my fingers crossed that you're onto something.
There used to be a Dunkin Donuts here...I want to say it was maybe on Utica around 10th or so? Or am I making that up?

Why worry, when there are plenty of good local doughnut shops here?
(Insert plug for Browns Donut Shop on North Yale.)
Yeah but Browns doesnt have a Caramel Coolata or munchkins. Plus I just love Dunkin. America runs on Dunkin Donuts. Heehee.
Also it wasn't a Dunkin Donuts at 5th and Utica it was a Winchells, which they were cool too.

There was one at 21st and Memorial that is now a Subway.
I also love Dunkin Donuts ans would love to see one in Tulsa, but in the time being I agree Browns makes an excellent donut.

You say "plenty" but offer 1. I have never been to Browns but I have been to a lot and none (since Glazn Havn closed) that I would classify as "good."
Is Merritt's still open?

-- OK Country Donut Shoppe.
-- Ann's Bakery
Yes! When I look at Tulsans, myself included, I think WOW! those folks could use some more donuts.

Wait, are you saying they don't make donuts or don't make
good donuts? I seem to recall that they had pretty tasty confections but that was a solid 15 years ago.
Regardless, I'd like to solidly endorse Dunkin Donuts. Not only do they have delicious donuts, they also have damn good sandwiches, inexpensive good coffee, and excellent bagels, etc. Got me through many a law school morning.

I'm all over a Merrit's Cake or Cookie but their donuts rival Hostess. I shouldn't need a chainsaw for a sausage roll.

I tried that. The bar oil ruined the flavor.[:)]
On the rare occasion that I get a sausage roll, I like the ones at Petty's.
Is Kreepy Krap still open on 71st?
I always liked Daylight Donuts, especially the one at 41st and Memorial, and 31st and Yale.
daylight donuts at 71st and yale on the SE corner is always good IMO. Also there is a daylight donuts on North Sheridan just south of Pine in a strip mall that is very good.
As for dunkin donuts, I stopped at one last month in Chicago and the munchkins, (I think is what they were called) that I got were old, hard and stale. None the less, alot of people like them, so why not put one in Tulsa. After all, we could always use another donut shop in this town!
Daylight is a Tulsa company. I'd rather support them.

Yes, and Kreepy as they may be, they are making a killing. I was their Mystery Shopper for awhile (tough job but someone had to do it) and the main thing they got docked for was running the line too much for mass production and not spending enough time doing the "hot now" line for entertainment.

Amen! They make a great cake or cookie, but their donuts are some of the worst I have ever had.
I never been real impressed with Daylight Donuts and after a day the icing usually slides right off or melts off, you dont see that with a quality donut. Nope I'm so ready for a Dunkin Donut. Never had a Brown's donut before might have to check em out.
Tim Hortons is good too if you're up North.
Timbits are of the devil.

Dunkin Donuts is terrible! Why would anyone in Tulsa care if they came to town when you have Daylight, among others which are farrrr superior.
Sorry, but the yanks have no idea how to make a good doughnut.
You really think a stamped out, six-sided piece of bread with glaze that just runs off is "good?"
It's more like an undercooked bagel than a donut.

Better than a stale, dry, spongelike thing that only resembles a doughnut in shape, and would be better used as a flotation device. No matter how hard I search, I cannot find a decent doughnut north of Baltimore. Seriously though, Dunkin Donuts is the *worst*.
I guess it's all what you are used to. I grew up with Daylight, and think they are pretty awesome, but everyone has their own preferences.
Is Uncle Willies still around? They were really good back in the day.
It looks like Tulsa may be getting Dunkin Donuts. Here's a recent article in the Denver Business Journal.
http://www.bizjournals.com/denver/news/2011/09/08/dunkin-donuts-eyes-return-to-denver.html
So is BB not having their hand in this? I would expect to see them quoted in the TW if a dunkin comes to Tulsa...I haven't heard much about their Dixie Cream brand since they opened their FIRST location two years ago...
Founded in 1929, the Dixie Cream Donut Co. was bought by Daylight Donut Flour Company in 2005, which then joined with Beautiful Brands in 2009 to franchise and market the brand worldwide.
Dunkin Brands went public a couple of months ago.

Dixie Cream is the best donut place in town. I have no idea why they haven't opened more locations.

Did you miss the part about Beautiful Brands?
OK Country at 81st & Yale is where it's at for donuts. Though I like walking three blocks to Daylight on 15th if I want a donut..
I'd accept any kind of downtown/midtown donut place that's open reasonable hours (at least until 4pm and 7 days a week).
The food options in this town for anyone who doesn't work 9-5 and go to bed at 10 are on par with a town of 10,000 people.

They are good for shapes but most of what I've eaten there tasted like white bread dipped in glaze.
The Daylight on 15th is my favorite.

I agree with you as I don't work 8-5 and, though I love Quiktrip, I'd like to have alternatives.

Okay getting off topic here but not sure how much donut talk can go on much longer!
Totally agree, I have contracts where we will be working until 12am, pack up and get done around 1am...about the only places open are Mcdonalds,(yuk) Taco Bell (gag) & QT (Bomb Burrito anyone?) The only REAL reprieve when we can find one near us is Whataburger...(why don't they have ANY in south Tulsa!)

Whataburger at 71st & Olympia and 61st & Sheridan... not sure how much farther south you want.
Jack In The Box is also 24 hours. 51st & Yale and I think they are putting one at 101st & memorial
The last Dunkin I remember was at 71st and Elm in B.A.. I'ts now Papa Johns.

61st & Sheridan isn't really South as much as it was..still quite a drive and Olympia is really west Tulsa IMHO :)

Not that it's really much better, but aren't several of the Sonic locations out south still open 24 hours, or did they quit doing that?

I think most of the ones that have a drive-thru are open 24 hours. Just the drive-thru.

In a Sonic? Have they added eat-in?
I don't believe so. Still sit in your car or at the tables outside. The 2 I live near they remodeled and took out some of the parking/order spots and made it a drive-thru. The drive-thru is open 24 hours.

Yes there is on on 71st that is 24 hours, maybe memorial but not all of them with drive - thrus are 24 hours...also if your NOT pulling a trailer or a large car PLEASE use the pull in slots! VERY annoying when there are 10 cars in the drive thru and 30 open slots and im pulling a trailer and NEED to use the drive thru..its NO faster people!
