"Sure, alternative newspapers are good...but am I the only one here who thinks it's usually a bunch of crap?
Outside of Bates, what am I missing? "
Ddn't they get sued by the attorney Jeff Martin a couple of years ago?

Your Source?
My favorite Beacon story was when they tried to write about the Randi Miller affair with a public works official. The TulsaWorld had broke the story the Sunday before, but the Beacon followed it with a front page story anyway.
The story had all the details except they somehow changed the name of the guy she slept with from a public works official to a city councilor.
I am sure the innocent city councilor had a lot of explaining to do at home.
Proofreading...yeah, it is important.
I enjoy that their single positive story is about new operators at "Jimmy's Egg."
The paper is only as good as the editors and reporters. The editor has a lot of experience (but apparently somewhat lacking proofreading) but he's also the main writer it seems which is not a good thing.
the only thing i hate worse than having rusty nails shoved under my gumline is the beacon.

The way I remember it is they changed
her name to the name of a City Councilor -- "Randi Sullivan."

Is Biggs still editor/publisher/writer? My nightmare is being forced by economics to have to produce such an irrelevant publication.

I went to the Jefferson Memorial and read the quote therein, and repeated it with all the sincerity of the Sinner's Prayer or a conversion to Islam. It has been all been very clear to me since.

The KOTV link to the story is dead, but it's quoted extensively here:

The parties eventually settled out of court.

That's right.
I laughed so much when it came out.
Can you imagine being listed in a sex scandal on the front page of a newspaper because someone failed to proof it?
Good memory, Michael.
Did they say "Let's settle this one?"
Seriously, I thought the Beacon was a Christian themed paper. How in the world did they get mixed up in a lawsuit with personal injury lawyers?
