Thought I'd start a thread for Olympic moments, events, discussions or photos.
And I get to start it off with something fun:

What of the Americans? WE are going to smash them. That is what we came here for.
- French Relay team, who just lost to the Americans
Awesome. Someone post the picture of Phelps when they won it. A GREAT picture of unbridled excitement, joy, and triumph. I can't find it yet.

I love the Olympics.
The opening ceremonies best it all so far.....
Chinese Art to the max....
Quite the display of beauty and movement (but still wasn't as moving for FOTD as Ali lighting it up!)[8D]
That 4x100 was an amazing race. Here's a shot of Phelps showing a bit of his excitement there at the end. Couldn't find one with all of them but when I watched it live it reminded me of '300' or something. =]

I had no idea. But it was interesting to watch. Much more so than another beach volleyball game.

cool and refreshing.....one of the better olympics in years
Topic for debate:
If it's judged, it's not a sport, it's a show. It shouldn't be considered a sport unless you can win it on objective terms (points, distance, speed, etc).
Thus, gymnastics, synchronized swimming, trampoline, etc are nice precursors to a job with Cirque du Soleil...but they're not sports. (Yes, yes, they require athletic ability. Stacking hay bales in a barn requires athletic ability, too, but that doesn't make it a sport.)
Discuss amongst yourselves...
My favorite thing in the Olympics so far was watching the 6' 5" guy win the 100-meter dash by such a huge distance, he practically jogged the last 15 meters.
