Post by: zstyles on August 04, 2008, 05:03:05 PM
Just ate there today...can I say 5 stars? Wow this is the best sushi value/cost per piece in Tulsa...MUCH better than Fuji....Asahi can't compete...my opinion best in Tulsa at this time..make your own opinion and check it out though....

Glad you liked it.  I'm planning on going there for the first time later this week.  Can you recommend anything on the menu?

Saying it's better than Fuji isn't saying much.  Might as well compare it to Sushi Train...
But who knows, maybe it's great.

In my opinion, In the Raw and Tsunami are the tops in Tulsa, with Asahi coming in third.

In The Raw and Tsunami are flashy Pop Fusion Sushi.  It's tasty, but they are by no means authentic, nor do they offer any other authentic Japanese dishes.

My wife works with Asian delegations that come to tulsa from time to time, and she wouldn't dream of taking them to The Raw or Tsunami.

I'm not saying they are bad, I actually love their food, but you can't get the real thing there, and you can't hear yourself think in the evenings when the music is pumping and the teeny-boppers are shouting to each other. "Like this is like the best sushi I've like ever had!"  "It's like so super-yum, I have to text my VBF about it!"

Fuji is actually about as close as we get in Tulsa.  I will have to try the new place immediately.

I agree with this statement.  Some of my friends accuse me of being a sushi snob, I guess i am.  To me, In the Raw is a bar with sushi.  Yes it is tasty and some of the rolls are pretty inventive.  But the noise level is too distracting to enjoy a meal there for me.  I like Asahi and Memories of Japan and will definitly give Wasabi a try.

I don't think ITR or Tsunami are trying to be authentic Japanese cuisine. I like the atmosphere, and when I want to go out for the evening, that can be way more fun than a quiet, reserved, authentic Japanese experience.

And for authentic Japanese (not sushi) you simply can't beat Ichiban Teriyaki. Yum yum!

It's like comparing El Chico to authentic Mexican. El Chico isn't trying to be authentic. When I want TexMex, El Chico will do, when I want authentic, the Rio Verde is it.

Anyway, will have to try Wasabi. I do luv me some sushi.

you must have been smoking some really good crack, or they slipped you some good shrooms because that place has lousy service and is overpriced.  The sushi and other food is ho hum....definitely does NOT provide a better value that Asahi....maybe better than Fuji at 71st, but Fuji on Brookside demolishes Wasabi.

This place won't last a year.

Well that is a blanket statement! Do tell! What happened?

I went back last night and had the same great service and food AGAIN.....plus the chef gave me a few extra Nigri while I waited....very friendly and good is what I had....

I think Inteller walked in the wrong door and either went to Bueno or Long John Silvers.

I already posted my review in a previous thread.  in short, slow service, food came out AFTER two other customers, despite ordering first (udon is NOT that complicated)....and it was high priced for the dishes served.

In a similiar topic, did I see that Suki FAILed it....or are they on vacation?
