Title: Amber Valletta speaks out
Post by: joiei on July 13, 2008, 06:54:41 AM
Amber Valletta speaks out (//%22http://www.huffingtonpost.com/amber-valletta/building-a-new-eco-econom_b_108996.html%22) about the Eco-economy and Oklahoma.

Oklahoma is a place so beautiful it has inspired iconic American songs, films, art and literature. Growing up in Tulsa, I was raised on these great stories. Much of what draws me back home is knowing that within Oklahoma's landscape lies the next great chapter in America's story--transforming our energy future. The Great Plains with rushing winds can generate massive amounts of clean energy. Across the state there is a sea of natural gas just below our red soil. Endless fields of switchgrass can be harvested as a clean alternative to oil. Other unharnessed energy sources include solar power, biomass, and geothermal, not to mention the biggest resource of all, people. At a time when we need it most, Oklahoma has a potential economic job boom screaming for political leadership. The possibilities are infinite for building a new eco-economy in Oklahoma, but we are facing one major obstacle: Senator Jim Inhofe.

I'd read her article: seems to me there's a certain degree of posturing.

Never heard of her before, dont agree with everything she said in the article. But I do agree with the sentiment that Inhofe, rather than moving us forward to embracing the future and our potential, is holding us back.

Whether you believe in human influenced global warming or not. The climate is gonna change regardless, it always has. And it would be wise to prepare for whatever changes will happen.  But energy needs are going to be our greatest challenge or potential opportunity for the future. We should have leadership pushing for us to be in the forefront of these issues, not battling for the status quoe.

We wouldnt even be having to give a crap about the EPA or global warming, not one iota, shouldnt even concern us one bit, IF we were embracing a cleaner and greener energy future, which would be BETTER FOR US REGARDLESS of whether those issues existed or not, or were real or not! If we were doing what would be good for us, our economy, for our energy future, embracing the great opportunities we have available, "global warming" and the EPA would be non issues.

Inhofe needs to get over his odd fixation with global warming and the EPA and instead start leading this state into the future.

She was the girl in Hitch that Kevin James was chasing after.

Not bad for a Tulsa Public Schools product.
