Title: Tulsa plans to open first off-leash dog park
Post by: buzz words on July 03, 2008, 12:06:03 AM
TULSA, Okla. (AP) - Dog lovers in Tulsa will soon be able to let their pooches roam free in a Tulsa park.

The city's Park and Recreation Board yesterday approved converting an unused city-owned baseball field into an off-leash dog park.

Task force Chairman Herb Beattie says he hopes to have the park in operation by the end of next week. The estimated cost is about $20,000. He says off-leash dog parks are the latest trend in public parks across the country.

Oklahoma City officials say its off-leash dog park southeast of Lake Hefner is tremendously popular. Similar parks have opened in Norman and Edmond.

Who will be going?  What happened to water in the pools?

Sounds great. [:)]  Its about time.

I got a kick out of the line, "He says off-leash dog parks are the latest trend in public parks across the country." Ummm... 20 years ago it was the "latest trend" lol.  Glad we finally have one regardless.

That's good, I wish they would ban dogs from the RiverSide jogging trail People want to run there and not have to deal with dogs.

I'd be happy enough if we could get people to not leave doggie "surprises" around for others to step in.
