I was at a local Post Office and the Lady behind the counter was quite chatty and a little disgruntled, not that she was ready to go Postal on us or anything like that. But she was offering up information to the customer she was helping that I had not heard before. I did not know that the USPS did not own their own buildings. The one that I was at she stated was owned by a little old man. They also do not own their own planes. Since 911 they cannot use commercial flights, so they have a contract with Fed Ex. She also stated to one of her co-workers that she had those Union papers in her car and he was very excited about seeing them. You never know what you will hear standing in those long a#% lines on Saturday Morning.
That's funny, I have seen hundreds of USPS mail crates/boxes, etc. being loaded onto commercial planes since 9/11. Many that I have seen have been loaded on planes at DFW enroute to Tulsa in fact!
That's news to me that USPS doesn't own their own buildings. If they don't, then it's another branch of gov't like GSA. I believe they do have some "leased" sites within malls and stores. There used to be a retail post office counter in the old Sheridan True Value at 91st & Sheridan (RIP). You could buy postage and they would take your shipments. They did not have PO boxes nor provide delivery. It was serviced by the USPO in the old Food Lion just south of the intersection.
Second that on USPS using commercial flights, that gal is off her rocker or her meds.

so if in fact, this building is owned by a "little old man" is it still a federal offense if you commit any crime on their property?
