I know a lot of people who would like to be part of something like this.
how is that "cool"?
I don't get how it's not. It's free and anyone can participate.
Rick Fortner is a genius.
I have his jazz piano CD in my car right now.

You don't like the building anyway; we wouldn't have expected you to go.

Nope, sure don't and wouldn't go to this backwoods amateur hour if you paid me.
This makes me giggle. How many people look at every single event at ANY venue and then rate the venue based on it. If you don't give a rat's bottom about Sam Harris don't go. They aren't making every single announcement in an attempt to impress YOU.
Carnegie Hall is hosting a concert by Barry Manilow. Therefore, Carnegie Hall sucks.

Somehow I doubt Sam Harris will be running many churches around here.

Couldn't pay me to attend!
Perhaps the most lame event I could think of...
However, I agree with sgrizzle, this single lame event doesn't make the BOk Center itself lame. I can tolerate lame and/or cheesy events as long as cool acts come along in the near future.

yeah, i dont think he quite fits the mold for most of the holy-rollers...
My wife likes Sam Harris but I doubt we'll go. We're saving our energy for opening night.
I would be willing to bet that this event will appeal to a large number of people who do not go downtown very often.
Cool or not, attracting a new audience downtown is a good thing, if for nothing else than to expose them to all the changes that are happening. This is a very good marketing move.

You might be on to something here. I'd be willing to bet that the target audience for the choir event is a representative sample of the anti-Downtown segment of the metro population. Perhaps these folks will see that Downtown isn't so scary after all. On the other hand, they might see the first homeless person in their whole life, and run away screaming.[:D]
What about the pro-Downtown, anti-religious and anti-arena people around here? Where do we fit in?
What's next? A Sandy Patty concert?
