Title: David Sedaris in Tulsa
Post by: dsjeffries on June 21, 2008, 12:47:56 AM
David Sedaris was at the Barnes & Noble at 41st & Yale tonight and gave readings of selected passages from his books.

Crowd: 750

Time I waited to get his signature: 5.5 hours

His inscription: To Daniel, I am so happy you can walk. David Sedaris.

He's got to be one of the brightest, funniest people out there today.

Overall, the experience was fantastic.

And now, I'm never going to wash my right hand. [;)]

Anyone else go?

I suspect you are referring to Amy Sedaris? One of the best comic minds out there today....

I got there early enough to  get a Gold A ticket and got to sit down.  It was great, the story he read was terrific.  and his answers to the Q and A session was fun.

I went the last time he was here. Waited FOREVER for him to sign a book for a friend. Appreciated that he stayed so long to sign for everyone.

I'm a huge Sedaris fan. (Ever since the "Santaland Diaries" played on NPR years ago!) Saw him the first time at B&N a couple years ago.  Then bought tickets when he came to the PAC.  (Tulsa surprised him with a great turnout and roaring appreciation for his wickedly twisted sense of humor.)  Last Friday, I stood in the "audio fiction" section of B&N to hear him again.

It was great to see all the young folks turn out for an event like this.  And I loved it that the mayor signed an official proclamation declaring it "David Sedaris Day."

My only regret is that nobody asked him about "The Rooster!"

And if you can get the entire run of the Strangers with Candy series (out on DVD), as well as the movie, then you've truly got something disturbingly funny.
