That thing is damn big. I hope it doesn't fall and squash one of our many upcoming country artists.

And if it does hopefully it just falls on their leg or dog or truck, so they will have something to write a new song about[:D]

Or the ex wife that they met in a bar while drowning their sorrows in a beer.

Certainly not "ICONIC"

Is it me or does the arena look like it is built out of duct tape?

Also, has anyone else other than me noticed that the duct tape paneling is already becoming discolored and worn in spots?  Drive down first headed west past the arena and you will see the discoloration.

Because size/feature wise it is one of the nicest in the U.S.. Like top 5 or so.

I saw the truckload of williams logos, I was wondering what they needed that many for.

At least it is more visually appealing then that "meatball" used by BOk.

Cool if true.  Do you have a source for that?

If I recall right, the source was from the project director, Bob Eggleston, by way of Daktronics, who assembled the scoreboard.

Funny story about Daktronics... they attended the OSU career fair last year and it was the saddest thing. Older women with a plain display trying to recruit people to move to South Dakota.

Was this printed somewhere?  Overheard at a bar?
I don't think the World article said anything about being one of the nicest 5 scoreboards in the country.  It just said

"Very few venues in the country will have better technology than Tulsa's events center," said Eric Covrig of Daktronics. "It will be equal in capabilities to the latest systems in NBA and NHL facilities.""

Pretty standard puffery language without much substance.  Don't misunderstand, the scoreboard looks pretty awesome.  Look forward to seeing it in action.

Stated during both tours.. doubt they officially rank them but this and the outdoor marque will be top in their class (and fodder for patric) I saw the sign over the entrance today and enjoyed they did a bok center logo the same color as the wall and are using neon backlight to make it appear.

Another source is the linked article...

I've been to many arenas and seen many more during NBA games and such on TV.  That thing is top notch.  I can't say it is in the top 5 or the top 100 even, but I can compare it to the Excel Energy  Center, Target Center, Untied Center Sprint Center, the Garden, etc. etc. and say it holds it's own.

And as far as the exterior looking like Duct Tape, wow.  What would it take to impress you people?  My hay-seed brother in law was in town from Holy Cross, Iowa (population 360) and commented on how smart (maintenance), expensive, and amazing looking the stainless steel skin was.  I guess we could have stained some concrete tilt ups and thrown them in place?

Thanks Sq for the pics.  I printed the scoreboard/arena one off to show people around the office.  That place is top notch... lets hope the acts keep rolling in and it becomes as big of a deal outside of Tulsa as it is IN Tulsa.
