Title: Storm Debris Collection
Post by: patric on June 06, 2008, 03:39:01 PM
I know the date for the debris pickup is supposed to be June 15, but I see Ashplundh in the neighborhood grinding curbside limbs today.

Is the collection date actually *by* the 15th or did somebody jump the gun?  (yes we didnt have everything out at the curb just yet).

More people should get off their lazy butts and take care of the problem themselves, if they take any pride in the appearance of the City and their own property.

Granted, I did not have any major storm debris from the latest storms during the past week.  I was without electric power for about 24 hours, and I took that opportunitiy to go out and collect all storm debris, bust it up, bag it, and place it by the curb for collections this past Tuesday.  All my debris was gone at that time.  Get off your lazy butts Tulsans!  Take some initiative and clean up your property.

So...one guy cut up his limbs into bundles so the city could pay the trash contractor to pick it up and the other guy just put his limbs at the curb so the city could pay a tree contractor to pick it up.

I guess I don't see much difference.

I busted up all my debris, packed it into trash bags, and left 5 yard bags of debris for regular trash pick up this past Tuesday.  My midtown lot is all neat, clean, and debris free, until the next big wind blows crap into my yard.

The difference is taking pride in the appearance of your property and cleaning it up on a timely basis.  I still have neighbors with Dec. ice storm debris, that if they are smart they will curb it for June 16 pickup.  The lazy slobs.

I get so sick and tired of Tulsans that don't seem to give a sh*t about the appearance of their property.  I guess the only thing I can do is maintain my own standards and hope some of this rubs off on my neighbors, but it hasn't happened yet in 22 years.

Mine too, Breadburner, until the next batch of crap blows into my yard from my lazy-donkey neighbors.  They all must not give a hoot, as they know I will be out there cleaning up everything when it eventually blows into my yard.  And the same thing happens every fall with the leaves; I am out there 2-3 times a week collecting leaves, while the neighbors just wait for them to blow my way so I will pick them up, with no regard to the appearance of their own property.  Watcha gonna do?
