There is an existing thread further testifying to this man's lack of integrity and shameful behavior. These comments pale in comparrison to Malarkey's use of our vets for political purposes. His flip flop at the last minute on Sen. Webb's recent GI Bill was nothing but a stroke of betrayal to American Troops and those supporting Malarkey's war mongoring.

You're right that is a lie!  Only 32 of the 36 claims made in his book were questioned by the UNIPCC.  The other two were only exaggerated!   In the end the UNIPCC accepted his claims regardless of any evidence or evidence to the contrary.

The US courts however did not.  Teachers showing the film must now provide this statement to their students:

In order for the film to be shown, the Government must first amend their Guidance Notes to Teachers to make clear that 1.) The Film is a political work and promotes only one side of the argument. 2.) If teachers present the Film without making this plain they may be in breach of section 406 of the Education Act 1996 and guilty of political indoctrination. 3.) Eleven inaccuracies have to be specifically drawn to the attention of school children.

The film claims that melting snows on Mount Kilimanjaro evidence global warming. The Government's expert was forced to concede that this is not correct.

The film suggests that evidence from ice cores proves that rising CO2 causes temperature increases over 650,000 years. The Court found that the film was misleading: over that period the rises in CO2 lagged behind the temperature rises by 800-2000 years.

The film uses emotive images of Hurricane Katrina and suggests that this has been caused by global warming. The Government's expert had to accept that it was "not possible" to attribute one-off events to global warming.

The film shows the drying up of Lake Chad and claims that this was caused by global warming. The Government's expert had to accept that this was not the case.

The film claims that a study showed that polar bears had drowned due to disappearing arctic ice. It turned out that Mr Gore had misread the study: in fact four polar bears drowned and this was because of a particularly violent storm.

The film threatens that global warming could stop the Gulf Stream throwing Europe into an ice age: the Claimant's evidence was that this was a scientific impossibility.

The film blames global warming for species losses including coral reef bleaching. The Government could not find any evidence to support this claim.

The film suggests that the Greenland ice covering could melt causing sea levels to rise dangerously. The evidence is that Greenland will not melt for millennia.

The film suggests that the Antarctic ice covering is melting, the evidence was that it is in fact increasing.

The film suggests that sea levels could rise by 7m causing the displacement of millions of people. In fact the evidence is that sea levels are expected to rise by about 40cm over the next hundred years and that there is no such threat of massive migration.

The film claims that rising sea levels has caused the evacuation of certain Pacific islands to New Zealand. The Government are unable to substantiate this and the Court observed that this appears to be a false claim.

You know when you people are sitting around in 20 years wondering why the U.S. government is taking 70% of your income in direct and indirect taxes, you might come around to less government control and programs.

Algore is a charlatan.  Footage from another movie containing styrofoam in a pool on a back lot in Hollywood to represent iceberg calving in a "documentary"?  Talk about scare tactics.

Problem with this--too many repukes believe these morons. Look at all the comments at the above thinkprogress link......

FOTD, without getting in to the actual discussion - it is possible to have very meaningful discussions about "Climate Change," it's existence or severity, and man kinds impact and/or ability to limit or reverse any damages.  Both sides can make entirely valid points and show evidence to their end.

However, the movie in question does nothing of the sort.  It exaggerates one side of the argument, shows blatantly wrong footage, and even invents story lines for certain events that have no basis in reality (in spite of Katrina, there were far fewer storms in 2007 than average years).

If an oil company made a similar film filled with equally unsupported contentions, misleads, and false imagery it would be internationally mocked - and rightfully so.  But so long as we are trying to save the planet or it is for the children, then it's OK to spew BS.  One sided propaganda from any source just stymies the discussion and causes the other side to dig in deeper.

And, as IP pointed out - why is science as advocacy from one side better than science as advocacy from the other?  Just as surely as someone working for Exxon is hoping to prove that oil is not bad, someone working for the EPA, the wind energy coalition, or Al Gore wants to prove that it is totally evil.

More cluster bombs. Someone working for the EPA?
Oil is not evil. These advocates for a cleaner policy do not say that. They say our dependency on oil is evil. Heroin is not evil. But it's abuse sure as hell is. And science is science unless you are inserting god into the logic or using it for your own means aka oil companies. Last I looked the EPA did not need to use false claims for their own purposes. They work for the public good... Yada yada yada to your bombs about the movie.

I think my post was abundantly clear.  You accused Inhofe of taking oil money as if he really doesn't believe what he says but is just a mouthpiece for "big oil", but you simultaneously fail to appreciate that most proponents of AGW who further the hype take money from government agencies and directly or indirectly profit off of AGW.

Look no further than your buddy Algore who is setting himself up nicely to profit off of AGW hype with his hedge fund which will reap profits from companies benefiting from massive governmental regulations.

I think it was scarier back when it was Global Warming.  Climate change is just something we deal with every day here in Oklahoma.

I'v read that they are going to change it again to "Global Crisis".

That way they can start to include elements outside of climate, such as medical anomalies.

I think this hobgoblin is nearly dead!

Well, better more efficient government regulation is the answer. When the dust settles on all the missed over sight by Bushco, everyone will be in shock at what went on......Enronesque. Hopefully, our economy will survive the loosening that went on through the last 8 years. But not without a lot of struggle to close the gap on a 13 TRILLION dollar debt crisis created by the Repiglican Party leadership..

AOX, I agree that some of the positions that he takes look bad on the national radar...

BUT, I stand by him on voting against Veterans bills with other crap stuffed in there.  That is nothing but a sham.  You have to vote for it or you hate veterans!

If it's such a priority for everyone else to take care of them - why not present a clean bill that takes care of the veterans without building museums, unneeded bridges, or other random pork in select districts?  Gasp, he didn't vote for the Veterans benefits and new bridge to nowhere bill?  He hates our military!

The one thing I can say I really appreciate about him is his quest against pork.  IF he votes against the "stop people from raping children law" because it is stuffed with pork - I'm fine with that.  If anyone really cared they could present it sans pork.

But in this instance the pork is just as important to the Democrats (and most of the Republicans) as anything having to do with Veterans benefits.

I'm going to type slowly so a Dumb-o-crap like yourself can understand this.

Pork is stuffed into bills which favor sensitive special interest groups so that the bills may be used as wedge issues and used to un-seat incumbents.

This shell game for political gain is one of the biggest hose-jobs Congress foists on the American taxpayer.  It's pretty much the same thing as how headlines are used to inform these days.  No one reads the whole story and no one remembers the details they saw or heard on the TV or Radio, just the sensational lead in and salacious first paragraph.

No one bothers nor has the time to read through 500 pages of a bill and convert the legalese to common English to figure out what all gets jammed into bills that is totally un-related to whatever the "cover" beneficiary is to the bill.

People on this forum biznitch about all the waste of the Republican-led Congress from '94 to '06, yet we have two hawks in the Senate who are trying to cut government waste and all people like you can say is: "what an embarrassment!"

BTW- Repiglican is one of the funnier mutations of Republican you've come up with so far.

Nope, it's pork.

The local voters knocked it down on the merits, but the State is going to do it and force them to pay for it anyway.  I voted YES on the measure, but it's still pork.  Tit for tat so OKC can get their pet projects and not have to listen to us complain about it.

I'm happy it's getting done, but it's still not right.

Pork jam ala repiglicans pass all the time attached to bills that have shredded the rights of Americans.

Two very different views of where our country needs to go.

Inhofe makes Oklahoma look bad to the rest of our nation.

Are you trying to tell me that FauxTurd contradicts himself?  That one fart from him doesn't necessarily smell the same as the one before it?  Pffftt.

There's actually been a big drive in the legislature to present resolutions,"Veterans" bills and "Education" bills and "Healthcare" bills and "Environment" bills that everyone knows will not pass.

The strategy is to load these bills with ridiculous spending concessions so that republicans will vote against them.  It happens in every election cycle.  It helps them to say that "Republicans hate your children"  or "Republicans hate your grandfather."

It actually happens on both sides.  Republicans are just as guilty.  They are constantly bringing up votes to "suspend funding for the war," or other votes designed to hold Democrats to their word.

The dems know that republicans (and some fellow democrats) will not vote for stupid pork, and the repubs know that democrats (and some fellow republicans) will not vote for something just because they tell their constituents they will.

It's a PR game, and to tell you the truth, the Dems are winning it because the average american will not understand or research a bill past it's title, and it gives the media some nice meaty sound-bytes.

To give you an idea of how much Inhofe hates Veterans, lets look at what's in one of the pieces of legislation mentioned in the initial post:

The Kerry Bill for the elimination of TRICARE copays for Veterans.  SOUNDS GREAT!

Here's what happened the budgetary spending bill, just before it went to vote (to save you some time, Dems and some Repubs packed the bill to the tune of billions of dollars in additional spending and earmarks, so that this portion could not pass):

Christ on a crutch, couldn't you have just posted a link?

It's bad enough that we have one FOTD posting long-a** posts that he didn't even write.

Sorry, I don't want to be put into the same life raft as "Freund des Teufels"  and his schlocky "news" posts.

Scientific Journal of America  June 1, 2008

Research has lead to the discovery of the heaviest element yet known to science. The new element, Governmentium (Gv), has one neutron, 25 assistant neutrons, 88 deputy neutrons, and 198 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 312.

These 312 particles are held together by forces called morons, which are surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like particles called peons. Since Governmentium has no electrons, it is inert; however, it can be detected because it impedes every action with which it comes into contact.

A minute amount of Governmentium can cause a reaction that would normally take less than a second to take from four days to four years to complete. Governmentium has a normal half-life of 2-6 years; it does not decay, but instead undergoes a reorganization in which a portion of the assistant neutrons and deputy neutrons exchange places.

In fact, Governmentium's mass will actually increase over time, since each reorganization will cause more morons to become neutrons, forming isodopes.  This characteristic of moron promotion leads some scientists to believe that Governmentium is formed whenever morons reach a critical concentration.

This hypothetical quantity is referred to as critical morass.

When catalyzed with money, Governmentium becomes Administratium, an element that radiates just as much energy as Governmentium since it has half as many peons but twice as many morons.

"Ami du diable"
The stuff I post is true!

I do apologize.  I will never again post something so long, boring or infuriating. It just had to be done.

I can't stand this brand of politics, relying on the ignorance of the american people.  Inhofe does not hate veterans, he hates ruthless spending.

If he hates ruthless spending, he would have voted against that transportation bill last year, instead of sponsoring it and actively campaigning to override Bush's veto, which the Congress eventually did.

I think you're confusing Inhofe with Coburn. Inhofe *will* vote for earmarks, especially when it benefits his home state. The low-water dams is proof.

And no, Gaspar, I'm not admiring anyone who uses FOTD's dumb and jerky tactics to make a point. It did not "have to be done." You're lucky I'm not a moderator.

I'll take my beating on that.  You are correct he has been guilty of inserting Oklahoma-centric programs into otherwise unrelated bills.  I don't agree with this method, though I may approve of the benefit the projects give our state.

That's funny, I was about 1/2 way through the post, thought "Holy crap, that's the longest post in TN history!".

I look at it like this, aside from confirming my assertion in my last post it's cold, hard facts, not far out fantasy blogosphere editorials.

Thanks for posting Gaspar, I don't think many people would know where to start looking.  Lobbyists are running Washington, not the Congress.  There's a lot of goose eggs in those numbers.  A billion here, a billion there, they talk in billions as if a billion $$ were a thousand $$.

McCain has vowed not to sign bills w/ earmarks.  That alone could make me a single-issue voter this election.

It's fine with me if Congress wants to spend money on waterways, highways, and gnat research.  At least be honest and trasparent that's what they are doing with money instead of treating the American public like a bunch of stupid sheeple all in a quest to stay in power and please their lobbyists.

You should see what they tried to do to the most recent budgetary spending bill (Don't worry, I will not post).

People can moan and cry all day about "this person hates veterans, or this person hates old people, or whatever!

It only shows that they don't really understand, and have become nothing more than political pawns.

The government has made these documents available to anyone with a computer, unfortunately it takes an IT degree to figure out how to drill down to the meat.

That's another attraction I have to McCain.  Not only does he want to eliminate the earmarks, he also wants the issues presented in a format that the average american can find, read, understand and digest.
