Well Surprise, Surprise!

Seems a certain bunch of Gomers has been saying it's dangerous (weak, naive, etc.) to talk to rogue nations. Seems like they've been saying that a whole, WHOLE, lot lately.
Well, apparently, a certain President failed to make an impression on a certain Knesset.

Israel, Syria launch surprise peace talks

IN AN unexpected announcement, Israel and Syria said yesterday they were engaged in indirect peace talks, with Turkish mediation.
Senior officials from both sides were in Turkey, an Israeli Government official said. "The two sides have begun indirect talks under Turkish auspices," the office of the Israeli Prime Minister, Ehud Olmert, said in a statement. "The sides have declared their intention to conduct the talks without prejudice and with openness. They have decided to conduct the dialogue in a serious and continuous manner with the aim of reaching a comprehensive peace."
"Israel launches Appeasement Talks with Syria"
Fixed that for you.
Ah, much better, thanks, weevus. [;)]
Oh, irony.
Appeasement? Does anybody with a sense of history understand t6hat appeasement does not work? Didn't work at Munich, did not work at Yalta, and it sure won't work with Syria!
I think the word "appeasement" was used in jest, Mr. Jaynes.

I would hope so, because such a proposition would be disastrous.

So, now it looks like these two enemies are on the verge of peace and President Carter helped it happen.

Mr Carter said it was now "just a matter of reconvening the talks and concluding an agreement" between the neighbouring countries.
Seems like some Gomers were calling him a "traitor" (//%22http://www.therealitycheck.org/2008/04/16/jimmy-carter-citizen-traitor/%22) last month for talking to our enemies. No doubt Hamas is an enemy, btw. But, seven years of swinging d*ck cowboy sh*t punctuated by a pointless proxy war in Lebanon only served to make Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran stronger.
A peace treaty between Israel and Syria would suck the wind out of their sails pretty quick. Busts up that Shi'ite Crescent (//%22http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shia_Crescent%22) and takes away one reason for those fools to be in existence in the first place. Oh, but you can't win the war on terror by talking. Bullsh*t.
