Title: Slutbucks, they have to be kidding
Post by: joiei on May 16, 2008, 02:54:14 PM
What is the big deal? (//%22http://www.startribune.com/nation/18969709.html?location_refer=Golf%22) Does someone have way too much time on their hands. I don't want to start a whole argument on religion but this is someone looking too hard to find symbols of antireligion.  To me this attack is not an example of the teachings I learned as a child.  What I know and feel is not reflected in this example of todays religious leaders.

Well at least it's proof that we don't just have them here writing in the Tulsa World comment section.

I'm sick and tired of these zealous kooks trying to kill everyone's fun.  Just because they are miserable (and can't get any, which explains their opposition to things like gay marriage and abortion) doesn't mean they have to ruin it for everyone.  Keep your damn religion to yourself because a lot of us don't want it.

Wow. 3000 people are acting stupid - and it becomes an "all christians are bad" thing.

The only reason this was even reported is because of the monumental stupidity of this particular group, and maybe because it inspires people's theophobia.

this logo is actually an offshoot of the original logo, which shows bare breasts and all.  (just go to the original Starbucks at Pikes place market)  The "old" green logo was made intentionally to appease exactly these kinds of idiots.

I think coffee is a cult. I always have these wide-eyed people offering me some of their wicked libation. It is no coincidence that they call what they do to beans "perk".

Starbucks (or as I call them Fourbucks because that is what they charge) is just the national  altar of the roasted bean mob.

Spend your four bucks on coffee that at least tastes good...go to Coppertown.  They only use Topeka Coffee.

I looked up their website...

http://www.coppertownok.com/

They have locations in Owasso and Bixby. I probably won't buy any of the boiled bean juice, but I might try a piece of pecan pie or caramel cheesecake.

This month they are giving their 10% to a neighborhood in Bixby whose developer built the park in a hole so it stays muddy all the time.  They are trying to build a new park.

The cheesecake is going away.  Not enough of them selling...but I hear they are EXACTLY like Cheesecake Factory's.  [:D]

Try the green tea, very healthy and very adicting, er uh tasty.

I like viewing naked double tailed mermaids. If other people do not, tough.

It is the fanatics from any group (Christian, Muslim, Republican, NASCAR, etc.) that cause problems for other people. They arrogantly believe they have the right to tell other people what to do or think.

To revive this thread and the sub-context...

I don't think it is a "all Christians are bad" thing, but in this country it seems when someone is whining about some petty thing it is a Christian group.  Elephant statue at the zoo, what happened some TV show, what movie we need to boycott, or a cup with a mermaid on it.

So like not all Muslims are terrorist, not all Christians are idiots.  But it seems sometimes, in the realm of moral outrage in the US, that all outraged people are Christian.

See what I'm getting at?

I've never really sat back and thought about it, but I wonder how much of it falls back on the puritan days of old.  Granted, we are a country that has given our citizens the most freedom when it comes to condeming other beliefs, and christianity is the most common religion in this country.  So it stand's to reason that when there is a "moral outrage", it is going to be christians leading the charge.

Looks like some of the same people got together and:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/05/28/dunkin-donuts-pulls-ad-fe_n_103859.html

Dunkin Donuts has pulled a commercial featuring pitchwoman Rachael Ray wearing a scarf because Michelle Malkin and other conservative observers thought the scarf looked too much like a keffiyeh, what Malkin describes as "the traditional scarf of Arab men that has come to symbolize murderous Palestinian jihad."

Brought to you by stupid people doing stupid things.

Heck, treat yourself to a meal at "Whataburger" and enjoy life. I think that whole thing is way overblown. Who cares?[xx(]
