Title: Insurance Need
Post by: cks511 on May 12, 2008, 09:14:59 AM
I thought there was a thread recently on insurance recommends but I couldn't find it.

I made a significant boo-boo in the choice of an insurance agency recently.  Any good referrals so I can escape?

I have always thought that my bookie and the insurance man were the same guy. I pay a little on a regular basis. If something good happens, the bookie pays me and if something bad happens, the insurance man does.

My insurance joke of the day...

Larry's barn burned down and his wife, Susan, called the insurance company. Susan told the insurance company, "We had that barn insured for fifty thousand and I want my money."

The agent replied, "Whoa there, just a minute, Susan. Insurance doesn't work quite like that. We will ascertain the value of what was insured and provide you with a new one of comparable worth."

There was a long pause before Susan replied, "Then I'd like to cancel the policy on my husband."

I use Jason Hobbs at Farmer's Insurance.

918-949-4010
I think that's his number (just changed offices), if not they should be able to point you to him.

Younger guy, personal, seems to know the game and work for you.  Is willing to meet you at your house after work or whatever works best for you.  Also, he has always returned my phone calls.  I'd like to think it is because he cares, but it's probably because he is trying to build a loyal customer base - which works just as well for me.

I have boat, house, car and life insurance with him now.  The prices with inter related discounts made it a good move to switch all my coverage and shopping around this last time they still had good rates (he was willing to check rates with different options/deductibles, etc. without complaining - which should be expected but for some reason some agents get pissed if they have to work).  Tell him cannon_fodder sent you, and he'll look at you like your crazy.

What kind of policy are you looking for? I have had experiences with several different companies for different things.

I had my renter's insurance through Chance Kornegay in Owasso.  His # is 918-376-1933.  My parents have been with him for years, no complaints.

I personally use State Farm because my fiancees BMW is insured through them, and they gave us a huge discount on our homeowners policy.  I also have my iPhone insured through them for 33 dollars a year with 0 deductible. I use a lady named Jennifer in Marrian Masseys office at 81st and Sheridan.  Their # is 918-492-7705.  Good luck!

Steve Krokstrom at State Farm
918-250-2616

I've had dozens of bad insurance agents. This guy is the exact opposite of all of them.

Go to an independent.  They can do the shopping for you, then make several offers you can chose from.  I use Rich & Cartmill, which gave me several offers, and I ended up with Travelers.  The independent will then shop during the year, and if he/she finds something better, will let you know.

Thanks everyone for your referrals. I did call them and all sounded excellent. However, I picked up a referral from a friend.  It's Barry Tims of Joe West agency.   My boo-boo is corrected.
