Having worked downtown most of my life, nothing less than OKC's bricktown or a major linkup to the river, will save downtown.

Any major reworking of downtown must include the above and still provide the needed space for workers.

As far as bringing nonbusiness, if it aint related to the river, dont waste the $$.

As far as historical buildings? Some of the ones they have been talking about should be torn down anyway. Despite their original value, some of those buildings are a eyesore and always were.

No they do not.

Candidiates were asked preliminary questions and their responses will published online before the event.

The questions solicited from the TulsaNow membership and forum visitors are what will be asked at the live event.

Hope that helps.

Do they already have the questions that will be asked? If so, why do you all even bother with this?

> "Exactly the kind of building we'll be needing as downtown returns to life."

Is downtown dead? Why do we assume that because few people live downtown that it's dying. Why does it have to be more than a business center?

These building fronts don't seem interesting at all. I would be upset if a parking lot would be put in place of the buildings--but a pocket park, children's playground or something else that is interesting would be favorable to what is there now.

linked on the forums of this site, as well as on the ypTulsa website, I have a letter that I wrote to Kaufman.

These letters are working.
People are hearing our voice.

I encourage everyone who cares about these buildings, and other issues in downtown Tulsa to keep writing letters. It may not seem like they get opened and read, but they are.

The soccer community is growing and is here to stay. Soccer stadiums are efficient multi-use. Having been to national and international soccer events from east to west coast (and europe) they contribute greatly to the local economy.

The biggest obstacle to soccer in Tulsa is football. They just don't want to share the limelight -or the fields. They protect their field use with rabid fervor.

It starts early. There is ongoing "debate" from elementary on up through high school and "contests" out on the playgrounds as to who are the better athletes. They don't call soccer "rugby on wheels" for nothing - guess who usually wins.

Even the elementary school P.E. teacher had the nerve to tell his young students "we don't do soccer - it's un-American". Well, they do soccer now. He had no choice. More kids were asking to play soccer than football. Even the girls were demanding it.

The above poster is right - I have yet to hear of any MLS player getting arrested for drugs, rape, or murder. And - if you don't make the grade - you don't play - no matter how good you are.
