Only thing I see missing from the plan is a Minor Emergency/Urgent Care center where 60% of the people in the ER really belong anyway.

There 1 minor emergency center about a mile away (behind Reasors at 71st and Lynn Lane.)  And another couple within 5-7 miles.

BROKEN ARROW event will be rescheduled in March

Friday's weather forecast has created a casualty.

The threat of rain and wintry temperatures forced the cancellation of a 2 p.m. groundbreaking ceremony for the new St. John Hospital near 51st Street and Elm Place.

"There was the possibility of snow, and that prompted our decision to suspend the event," said St. John spokesperson Joy McGill. "We will have the ceremony in March.

"None of our work on the grounds will be affected by the date shift," she said. "We are still on schedule."

The 84-bed general acute care facility will provide obstetrics and gynecology, emergency care, general surgery and diagnostic imaging services.

Doctor's offices and retail stores are also part of the hospital's plans for the development, which is scheduled to open late next year.

St Johns wants to know what kind of public assistance they're getting from BA.

BA says they would like to see some plans first.

This thing is starting in a few weeks?

Yes, the groundbreaking will be held hopefully in a couple of weeks.  They are still tweaking the design and site plan.  The preliminary site plan is going before the Planning Commission tomorrow night.  Then, it will probably make its way to the City Council on Tuesday, March 04, 2008.

PHASE I OF THE PLAN:
* 5-Story Hospital (150,000 SF)
* 4-Story Medical Office Building (100,000 SF)

The groundbreaking ceremony is planned for March 28, 2008.  We should have some renderings at that point.

If you want to know what it will look like just take a look at the Owasso hospital and add a floor and a medical office building on both sides instead of just one.

My imagination runs away at times, but seldom to Owasso.

Haha...St. John officials have said the hospital will look similar to Owasso's but will be unique to Broken Arrow.

I think the plan is for one 4-story Medical Office Building at the beginning along with the 5-story hospital.
