Job announcements in the last few weeks:

300 American Airlines
300 Spirit Aerosystems
200 Google
400 MDI (Wind Turbines)
300 Coca-Cola (call center)
500 Gannett (call center)

Total 2,000 new jobs, at least 1,200 of them will be high-paying jobs.

Great news to be sure, I was really excited to hear about the new jobs at the airport (good jobs too!).

However, it should be noted that the $10,000,000.00 we are giving to AA is simply to guarantee no job losses.

But take the 1700 new jobs and add the spinoff jobs and it should be upwards of 2300 new jobs (new retailers, suppliers, etc. etc.).  Good news for damn sure.

Even MORE impressive is the continued hiring by existing companies.  Large and small - from OneOK to Williams to QT to every metal fabrication shop, retailer, casino, and service company in town.  Lets hope we keep this up for a few years and really get on a roll.
