If anyone feels this should be in events.. you may be correct....... But, I did not want this to be overlooked... It sounds like a night to remember for more than one reason......!

Reception at Philcade

Tulsans can celebrate the past and future of downtown and its unique architecture Thursday, June 29 at the “Urban Vineyard 2006� reception presented by the Tulsa Foundation for Architecture (TFA) and New York businessman Henry Kaufman in the lobby of the historic Philcade Building.

The event is scheduled from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. and will feature international award-winning Carneros Creek and Wildhurst wines from Briarcliff Wine Group, which is owned by Kaufman. Kaufman and his San Francisco business partner Maurice Kanbar have purchased 20 downtown Tulsa properties since last summer.

Other special features of the evening will include exhibits from the TFA architectural archives and a silent auction of Tulsa and Phillips family memorabilia.

“Everything about this unique evening relates to downtown Tulsa,� says Lee Anne Zeigler, executive director of the Tulsa Foundation for Architecture.

The silent auction will feature numerous Tulsa historic and architectural items, including: Native American rugs and satin comforters from the Phillips estate; a Bentwood chair from the downtown Vandever’s department store; Atlas Life Building memorabilia from the Atlas Life Insurance Company; and Tulsa Club tablecloths, wait staff pins and silver serving items.

The Philcade Building at 509 S. Boston Ave., site of the reception, was recently named the 2006 Historic Building of the Year by the southwest region of the Building Owners and Management Association (BOMA).

Admission to the “Urban Vineyard 2006� wine and hors d’oeuvres reception is $35 for TFA members, $50 for non-members and includes a copy of the TFA hardcover publication, Tulsa Art Deco, and door prizes. For more information, please contact the TFA office at 583-5550.
