Verizon has several requests in to the Board of Adjustment for the April 11th hearing to establish cell towers in the City.  Good news for many however...

one of the towers is proposed to be located at Wilson Middle School on 11th St.  The tower is proposed right up against Route 66.  They have no plans to blend the tower or screen the utility yard.  I find this as a highly inappropriate element to establish on Route 66, especially considering recent public discussions and efforts (Vision 2025) to improve the street.  Here's to hoping the Board tells them to move the tower into the school site away from the street (and surrounding residences) or denies the application.  Staff comments and maps usually go up on the INCOG website the Thursday or Friday prior to the meetings.  We'll see what INCOG has to say about the app.

Yea Verizon, boo TPS for permitting the location.
