Okana Resort project allowed to move forward . . .

February 1, 2022 - Oklahoma City

The Oklahoma City Council voted to allow the Okana Resort project to continue to move forward on their $300 million development planned on the 100 acre site given them by the City in an agreement that involved millions to finish the FAM museum.

The OKC Planning commission had made the recommendation to exempt the Chickasaw Nation's development from the design & review process which would have slowed the project to moved quickly without having to present plans before the scenic river overlay committee.  The OKC council was the final hurdle with 'unanimous approval' to allow the development to move forward.

Last week, site preparation work started as the land was being 'prepped' in the area for ground breaking scheduled for March 2022 in hopes to maintain a timeline to finish the first phase of the project scheduled for the first quarter of 2024.

The Okana project will map out close to 35-40 acres of the 100 acre site located next to the First Americans Museum.  The eventual plans by the
Chickasaw Nation is to add residential and mixed use projects on the site.

Construction of a $300 million resort along the Oklahoma River will be allowed to proceed without being subjected to the city's design review ordinance.

Future development around the west side of the museum could include housing, but if done, it would likely resemble multi-family housing developed downtown.

OKANA RESORT TO RECEIVE A RECORD BREAKING $102.2 MILLION  IN TIF GRANT FUNDS

This is an enormous amount in TIF funds for a project on non tribal casino lands.  The 100 acres given given to The Chickasaw
Tribe for completion of the FAM Museum of which $14 million was contributed by the CN to complete this $175 million FAM Museum.

The latest estimate for the OKANA RESORT is estimated to be slightly over $325 million accounting for 40 of the 100 acres for Phase 1.

The two projects (Museum & Resort) total $500 million.

This area east of Downtown OKC (I-35/I-40 Junction) will attract investors-developers eager to develop land around the Museum-Resort.
Look for future zoning requests for residential and multi-use projects within the next decade.

Also within the period of 2022-2026 look for many of the $978 million OKC MAPS 4 Initiative 16 projects to begin ground breaking and
           construction.

Chickasaw Nation Wants to Expand OKANA RESORT

Resort may include an Aquarium & MAPS 4 Multipurpose Stadium

The Chickasaw Nation is in communication with Oklahoma City about the Zoo building an aquarium
and the tribe also is interested in whether a future phase of the OKANA resort could include a
                                                                    MAPS 4 $37 million funded multi-purpose stadium.

The Tribe included plans to include an Aquarian in its subsequent phases. There could be a plan to
involve a partnership to building both venues.  The stadium could serve outdoor concert needs.

Estimate OKANA Project Cost: $342.1 million with Aquarian & Stadium $480 million.
