The 460,000-square-foot, 12-story structure was designed in the shape of an X; built in 1991 to house 1,250 inmates. Oklahoma County’s public safety employees will receive roughly $5,000 in bonuses through the end of the year after officials agreed to spend $5 million in "hero pay" for their work during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Oklahoma City Tinker AFB receives first KC-46 Pegasus tanker Civilian maintenance crews watch as a KC-46 Pegasus arrives for its first maintenance check at Tinker Air Force Base in Midwest City on Thursday. The historic arrival of the Air Force’s next-generation air refueling tanker for its first maintenance check marks the beginning of the future workload at Tinker. [CHRIS LANDSBERGER PHOTO/THE OKLAHOMAN] 1,300 jobs, a total of 14 maintenance hangars will be constructed. Construction progress of the maintenance facility at Tinker Air Force Base that will support the Air Force's new tanker, the Boeing KC-46 Pegasus [Photos by The Oklahoman].The maintenance hangars will be set up to help sustain air-to-air refueling mission recently awarded to Tinker AFB. Maintenance involves everything from routine aircraft inspections in the field to bringing an aircraft to a maintenance center where it undergoes a thorough examination to look for potential issues before they become a problem; sustainment activities will involve performance corrosion control, painting and fueling.
It can also accommodate a mixed load of passengers, aero medical evacuation and the KC-46 can carry up to 65,000 pounds of cargo.
The hangars are designed to support Tinker's long-term depot maintenance of the new aircraft that will be housed in the Oklahoma City-Midwest City complex, an estimated 1,300 jobs on base will result from the construction of fourteen hangers.
The area that now houses the KC-46A Pegasus campus was once an abandoned rail yard purchased from Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway Company. The joint venture was a coordinated effort by the U. S. Air Force, City of Oklahoma City and Oklahoma County for $44 million.
The Oklahoma City Air Logistics Complex remains the Air Force’s largest depot and, with the addition of the KC-46A Pegasus added to increasing legacy system requirements, it will continue to remain the Air Force’s largest depot for the foreseeable future, the potential for expansion has been taken into consideration with renewed discussion on the possibility of the Air Force moving forward with plans to introduce the KC-Y and KC-Z.

Oklahoma City Council approves marketing Cox Convention Center as a film studio Prairie Surf Media founders Matt Payne and Rachel Cannon still have to finalize a lease with the city for the convention center, which is to be replaced by the new Oklahoma City Convention Center later this year. Lease terms are still to be negotiated with a final agreement expected to be voted on in December.
Producers are now “scrambling” to find available sound stages, Cannon said. Oklahoma City can be competitive due to lower costs of living, efforts taken by the city to keep COVID-19 rates under control, the state’s film tax credit program and a growing film community.--Oklahoman, September 15, 2020

Oklahoma City has made the Lariat Landing site more attractive by moving a road completed in June 2017 where the city spent millions of dollars realigning Portland Avenue from a two-lane asphalt road to an enhanced four-lane concrete roadway. Those enhancements included construction of water drainage infrastructure, landscaping, irrigation, signaled intersections, sidewalks, decorate street lighting with upgrades on curb and gutter roadways.
The new facility will be located at the Will Rogers World Airport, presumably making Oklahoma City one of the destinations in the Amazon Prime Air network that is headquartered at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG).
