These Aren't the Droids You're Looking For

Just when you thought the election for mayor and City Council was playing nice...

Got an attack ad in the mail from Casey Robinson with some very misleading claims warning me to "VOTE NO TO SOCIALISM."

The all-caps hysterics are aimed at the incumbent councilor, who Robinson claims "Socialist politicians like KJ McKee" are "destroying American cities."  At the heart of the complaint is the obtuse interpretation that "defunding the police" is eliminating police departments rather than what cities are actually doing -- like handing over mental health intervention to mental health professionals instead of police.

The leaflet casually includes the unrelated statement that homicides are up, and that city revenues are expected to be down, casting shade upon opponents in lieu of any qualifications he might have to offer.

We could do better.
