I haven't followed this very closely, but I thought a year or two back Ross Group went under some sort of agreement with TDA to help develop this area?

Some interesting news on who the new OSU President will be.. she is the former President of the medical school here in Tulsa.

I'm glad they picked from within OSU and maybe her being in Tulsa previously running the medical school will be a good thing long term for expanding the Tulsa campus. At least I'm sure that will be very beneficial to expanding the medical school even further.

She was the one giving us the advice on corona virus last year about this time.

And now there’s commercials showing up for their participation in handling this whole thing.

Don’t you want to be part of the team?  Come to the medical school.

About 15 years ago, Langston and OSU-Tulsa were trying to expand their campuses overlapping the same real estate, all the way up to king street.  Even wiping out the Section 8 Tulsa Housing Authority area if I remember right. 

Langston finally built their own building around the corner and OSU-Tulsa built a new technology building out in the parking lot.

This seems like a positive move for building up the OSU campus downtown.  Hopefully this leads to increased enrollment and new construction restarting on campus.

College Park will welcome students this fall for classes at the OSU-Tulsa campus.

“We know that downtown Tulsa has been wanting a four-year, public university option we know we have a lot of education assets in Tulsa,” said Dr. Leigh Goodson, president, and CEO of TCC.

The two schools already have a relationship – providing the framework for students to transfer from TCC to OSU-Tulsa seamlessly to get an OSU degree.

College Park will keep students on the same campus for all four years.

“We want more Tulsans to reach that destination of a bachelor’s degree and in a fast-changing world, higher education needs to meet the demands of our economy and our society,” said Dr. Pamela Fry, President of OSU-Tulsa.

The students already have a financial benefit coming their way.

“I’m pleased to announce that OSU-Tulsa has received commitments for half a million dollars to help fund scholarships for college park students,” said Dr. Fry.

Students can register for classes starting in May, classes begin this fall.

I'd prefer they put the land into a land trust and give it back to people who had their homes taken through eminent domain or at least figure out some sort of compensation to make up for it. Given this area was redlined for so long, seems like there's a way to try to make it right instead of just allowing developers to profit off of it. Maybe bring in a non-profit community developer to help redevelop the area in a way that's in line with what used to be there prior to UCAT bulldozing everything.

I'm hopeful that the consultants will address some of this and it not just be a bunch of pretty pictures like they did with the Arena District master plan. They really need to show some proper ways for this to be redeveloped properly with actionable items for the city to follow.
