My sister sent me this link to pictures of trolleys in Philadelphia, PA in the mid to late 60s.  Some of the routes still exist but I believe most are gone.

I bet that was fun for you. My first thought is about all the overhead wires! It was like a spider web. Wonder what happened to all those trolley cars.

I gotta do some deep digging...I know I have pictures of Tulsa's electric trolley that ran on north Harvard...with me, siblings, and Mother in the pic....

Yep.  I forwarded the link to a friend that grew up in Philly (I grew up in the burbs).  He said he recognized all the locations.

Most of the trolley cars were scrapped but...

Trolley museums around the country got some.  Philadelphia actually had about 15 of them overhauled with modern running gear and added air conditioning for use on one route.  Some of Philadelphia's cars are running in San Francisco.  A few other cities also have refurbished PCC (President's Conference Committee) cars in use on heritage lines.

The overhead wires are one thing that anti-trolley folks always bring up for aesthetics.

This is about 100 yds from the house where I grew up.  The trolley ran on a private ROW and only had to put up with traffic at road crossings for most of the route from Upper Darby (69th St Terminal) to Media (Delaware County seat).

Wow, I got lost in those links for about a half hour.  I see there is still a Red Arrow line.

Officially it's part of SEPTA with route numbers but I understand the locals still call it the Red Arrow.

I see, like most things transportation in Oklahoma, maintenance has been deferred.

How recent is that picture?

This is where they are/were.  I can't tell if they are some of the debris or not.

I rent some warehouse space near the old railroad maintenance area pictured on Morrow road. I don't remember seeing them there during the past month but I'll look closer. My memory is that they moved them from there and were in process of being restored. They had been used as chicken coops.

I don't do Facebook and cannot get to the site since a log-in is required.

I have been to the site in Sand Springs and thought that the last time I was there, the trolley carcasses were gone but I wasn't sure.

They aren't in that location any more, unless they are stored in one of the buildings.
