I am kind of leading up the Lights On for the Deco District this year.  There will actually be SEVEN different areas participating in downtown for this years lights on.

For the Deco District we have decided to make the park at 6th & Boston/Main be our focal point, our "Guthrie Green" so to speak.  We have raised enough money for a 30' lighted tree to be built.  We will also have the Presbyterian Church there ring it's bells during the lights on and have carolers singing, we will have fire pits along the street and one in front of DECOPOLIS for making s'mores.  And we will light up as many trees in the park as we can with the old lights that used to be used for the canopy but can't now with the floats that go down Boston Ave.

Hopefully each year we can add more and more lights to the park and to the buildings around it. Unfortunately we don't have the deep pockets Guthrie Green does so we will have to do this step by step long term lol.

Anywhoo.  Blake will be our dignitary with the honor of lighting the Deco District Holiday Tree for our first year but I was thinking it might be nice to have someone else along with him turn on the lights.  In other cities you may see some famous people or someone, or group deserving of some recognition, etc. there to turn on the lights as well.

Any ideas?
