DID YOU KNOW? FACTS ABOUT RECALL:

EDITORIAL NOTES FROM JOHN S. DENNEY, COUNSEL FOR HOMEOWNERS FOR FAIR ZONING:

1. While pretending to be neutral in the matter, the publisher of the Tulsa World has used the full power of its newspaper's editorials, cartoons, and "news" articles (even including the sports pages) to try to get Councilors Jim Mautino and Chris Medlock recalled.

2. What this "newspaper" doesn't point out is that, if Councilors Medlock and Mautino are recalled, it won't be the residents of Council Districts 2 and 6 who elect their successors. Under the terms of the City Charter, the remaining City Councilors (Districts 1, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8 and 9, a majority of which are controlled by the Tulsa World) will choose the new Councilor to serve out the balance of the term of any Councilor who is recalled. The residents of a recalled Councilor's Council District will have no say in the matter. How's that for getting Whirled by the World's publisher?

It is not to late to stop a bloodless coup from taking place in Tulsa, besides after the controversy with the Tulsa Zoo Tulsa can't afford to be the fodder of anymore negative national headlines.

Every vote counts in this election. Republicans and Democrats who undertand the stakes and the need to keep good men in office should rally every family member and friends to vote on July 12th to keep Chris and Jim Mautino in office. Poll Watchers - Election Day - July 12
Be a monitor at the opening of the polls and at the closing down of the polls. 6:45 am & 6:45 pm. Consists of making sure the voting machine numbers match the ballot numbers and posted numbers. Need names by Tuesday, July 5th to register with the Election Board. A 30-minute training session will be held after the Vote No on Recall Rally, July 11th Helmerich Park, 71st & Riverside, approx. 6:30 pm. A step-by-step instruction sheet will be supplied.

Phone Callers - Get out the Vote - July 10, 11 & 12
Calling voters who have said they will vote against the recall, reminding them to get out & vote. This is probably the MOST IMPORTANT phone calls to make.

Walkers
July 9, Saturday - 8:30 am Johnson Park - 61st & Riverside
Be the Personal Postman. Hand deliver the mail. Another bag hanging to hand deliver the last mail piece so it won’t get stuck in with all of the other collected mail. Out at 9 am to the doors while it is still relatively cool!

Paperboys (or girls)
We need 4 or 5 teams of probably at least 2, preferably 3 people to drive parts of the district & throw a paper to every house on either Sunday, July 10th, Monday, July 11th depending on the weather. Get your name to Karen Miles 492-6491 or Cheryl Medlock 344-1999. We can assign routes & pick up papers Saturday Morning at Johnson Park at 8:30 am or Saturday afternoon at the Medlock’s house 3 pm.

Sign teams
1 Saturday, July 10, 8:30 am - Johnson Park - receive instructions on where to place signs.
2 Tuesday, July 12, 4:30 am -- This is the most fun job of the campaign! Need some teams to put signs up the EARLY morning the day of the election. We meet at the Medlock’s house. It’s crazy, it’s fun! Call Cheryl Medlock 344-1999. We brew a lot of coffee that morning!
