Congrats to a couple of Athletics' players chosen in the MLS draft earlier this month.
Akeil Barrett was chosen by expansion club Orlando City as the 25th pick overall.
Tony Rocha was picked in the 4th round by Sporting Kansas City, 73rd overall.

And a couple of days ago at the Emerson Elementary School bike club...

In a twisted bit of irony, the Athletics' US Open Cup game at Midland/Odessa tonight will be streamed over at Arnie's bar in downtown Tulsa at 7:30pm while the Tulsa Roughnecks FC USL game at LA Galaxy II will be streamed starting at 9:30pm Central time over at Joe Mamma's Pizza. The party at Arnie's, which technically starts at 5:30, two hours prior to game time, happens to be approximately 341 feet away from Joe Mammas. $3 Killians Red Ale to all who wear Tulsa Athletics or Armory attire. Hopefully, Arnie's will have their signature "Soup of the Day" available for this evening's match... lol.  Grin

Gotcha.  Dunno, seems like I don't notice as much smoking there, definitely less than "back in the day."
I had to work, but got there at the end since I wanted to pick up the new "Tulsa Originals" scarf...

Odd game, first of the year for both clubs and the one with quickest chemistry came out on top (Midland/Odessa had several players from UNC-Chapel Hill)
...down 2-nil, we got a penalty kick saved by their keeper, then scored to narrow it to 2-1 with about 15 minutes to go, before they got a late goal five minutes before the end to clinch it.

Home opener is Saturday night.

Tulsa Originals. Because you all invented supporter groups in 2013. Wonder why that is the new scarf this year...

I hope that was just a voice over after the fact. Cause if that's the games play by play announcers. There is no way I could listen to them.

Those were the Midland/Odessa announcers.  They were beyond terrible.  And the camera work reminded me of Blair Witch Project.

Athletics start season with disappointing 1-1 tie at home versus Dallas City FC...

Post game.

Tonight is the Tulsa Athletics final game of the season as we host second-place FC Wichita at 7:30 pm at Athletics Stadium on 15th & Yale.

After winning our division the last two years, we have already clinched a third place finish (6 wins, 4 losses, 3 ties) this season in an eight team South Central Conference.
FC Wichita can clinch the title over first place San Antonio with a win tonight or a win in their home finale on Sunday against Ft Worth.
It is my understanding that their supporters group, the "Air Capital Firm," has sold out a chartered bus and will be roadtripping to T-town tonight...
The Athletics lost the previous meeting on 6/13 in Wichita by a score of 4-2.

This season the club got off to a poor start, but have hit our stride of late, winning our last couple of home games 5-2 and 8-3.

Very proud of our July 4th game which benefited VFW Post 577... and the previous week's match which benefited Oklahoma Project Woman and BCAP.

All tickets for tonight's game are $7.
Tailgate starts at 5:15 in the parking lot next to the old Health Dept building.

#TulsaTilIDie   Cool

***Come prepared to sing a rousing rendition of "Fat-bottomed Girls" at some point during tonight's game***  Grin

Done for the year, finished 3rd after winning our division the last two years...

Today, I believe we are presenting something for the A's in conjunction with this...
https://www.facebook.com/BostonAvenueMultisport

FC Wichita brought about 50-60 fans for Friday night's game, which we won 2-1.
Rivalry promises to be pretty vicious... got a little out of hand at the end...

It must suck to live in Wichita.... ;-)

Was nice to score eighteen goals in two games for the Oklahoma Project Woman benefit and the local VFW...
