I used to love that place in the late 90's and early 2000's but the last few times I had been in there, albeit 4-5 years ago, it smelled like dirty dishwasher and mildew.

You just described every place on Main.

My beef was that they blacked out the windows. I thought it was some sort of seedy piano bar for about a decade.

I honestly have no clue where this is.  Based on the address, I know I would’ve walked past many times, yet nothing stands out.

I ate at this place many times. Brent the owner had a daughter that played soccer on my daughter's team.

His business was mostly catering sandwiches and had a small crowd that ate there during lunch. He sold more baked potatoes than sandwiches.

I am sorry to see him go out of business.

As mentioned above, the defining feature was the blacked out windows and minimal signage.

The gooey bread was a nice, occasional treat, but more often than not, I just kinda forgot that it was there :/

The gooey bars were the only thing that stood out and the only thing it had you couldn’t get a better version of elsewhere downtown.  Ten years ago, there was usually a line at lunch.  As the competition grew, this place seemed to stagnate and became a reminder of how limited downtown’s eating options were in the early 2000s.  Sorry to see it close, but have to admit I hadn’t been or used it to cater lunch in over 4 years.

Gosh, never heard of it nor noticed it either, and I thought I knew most everything in the Deco District.  Unfortunately that part of Main Street is pretty much decimated with the TW building blank wall there and then the suburban style plazas and buildings just to the north.
