What makes this restaurant unique:

They use family recipes passed down four generations. The original Ramona’s in Inola has sort of a cult following.  Customers encouraged Ramona to open a location closer in to Tulsa or BA.  According to the owner, it’s entirely family run with her sisters and sons helping out at this location.  These are really authentic dishes common to inland areas of Mexico. This is not your typical Okie/Mex or Tex/Mex, if you prefer those riffs on Mexican, this place might not be your bag.  For those of you who think El Chico is dog food, you will love this place.

We were served a red salsa and a creamy green salsa.  I’ve never had a similar salsa to the green. It’s not a tomatillo or guacamole, not really sure how to classify it.  Both were good to excellent.  I had shrimp al diabla which had a well-balanced diabla sauce made with chipotle with moderate to high heat.  I’d call it a Mexican barbecue sauce.  I’d love to slather it over some ribs!  I also ordered a chorizo taco, the chorizo was excellent if you are a connoisseur of real Mexican chorizo.  MC had creamy chicken enchiladas which were muy bien.

We are huge fans of American Southwest and real Mexican and we don’t impress easily.  We were easily impressed here.

Portions were generous and we were more than satisfied with the value vs. money spent.  Service was attentive and food turn-around was good.  Most items are made to order so it’s not as quick as some places where your food hits your table in two minutes because it’s been under a hot lamp.

Easy to find, right next to the new Knotty Pine BBQ location in Broken Arrow.
