I remember watching him especially during the Indy 500s way back when I first got interested in watching racing.

Conan, I'm sure you remember him...

Do remember his distinctive voice.  Had forgotten all about him though.

He published the best racing publication ever.  Back before the internet, NSSN was the only way to get race results and stories from all over the country.  RIP Chris!

My favorite Economaki interview was in the early to mid 80's at the Indy 500. Coming down for the green flag, Kevin Cogan stepped on the gas in his car and broke a left side half-shaft, causing his car to turn left and run into AJ Foyts car. Foyt was walking down pit lane afterwards, and Chris asked (paraphrasing) "AJ, AJ, what happened on the start?" to which AJ answered, "What happened? What happended? Cogan ran into my GD car, thats what happened!"

Go to 7:45 and you have it......

Gotta love A.J.

Interesting you would have picked the video from 1982, that was the year my step dad took my best friend and I to Indy.

That was when Magic Olivia Newton-John and disco shorts roamed the Earth.
