Pretty interesting that nobody on here seems to be discussing what went on at the meeting last night.

Sam Roop who took a $90,000 pay off to leave the city council was telling the council that we are all for an ehtics board. But, that during this time of penny pinching we need to know what you think it's going to cost first because we might not be able to afford it.

Then I believe it was the new councilman Martinson? Who stated that if we instituted ethical rules and a commission that he is worried about how many people would resign off of city boards, and they are the ones that actually run most of the city. Sounds like if they are going to resign for having to disclose any kind of conflict of interest they might have that we really do need this.

Call me a conservative nut if you want and I can still think some of you guys are liberal wackos, (all in good fun, don't get mad) that's not the point here. The point here is that as citizens, if you are seeing this type of discussion and behavior going on, and still elect these people then we deserve what we get! To say we can't afford to institute ethical rules and a commission, board, whatever to enforce them is plain stupid.

Come on people, Democrats, Republicans, it shouldn't matter with what we have going on around here. We are citizens and it's our money, and if we don't take control of it somebody else will (already has actually)! It's as simple as that.

If instituting ethical rules and a group of people to make sure they are enforced would cause resignations. Then that is exactly what we need! If they had nothing to hide now they wouldn't resign because of some new ethical rules would they?
