Yes, the casino shortage is as bad as the turnpike shortage. Question is will it be pay to get into Tulsa, or to get out?  Wink

I'm surprised we don't have slot machines at our toll gates.

Not a bad idea, Put up a sign that says "1 Out of every 10 wins!" make it a free pass for that portion of the pike! Brilliant idea!

New interchange off the creek turnpike is open.  The city says a developer is already lined up and we should know soon who the retailers/restaurants are for this area.  KTUL reports the city and chamber "want something big and unlike any other thing in town or around it for that matter. If they pull it off they say Broken Arrow residents won't be the only ones flocking to the area. "We're looking to bring in retailers and entertainment destinations and restaurants that are not in the metro so people who live throughout the metropolitan area will come out to Broken Arrow," said Smithwick. The city says announcements could be coming in the next few months."

Tulsa World article yesterday states the developer from Houston is ready to go on the project.  It will feature a theater (I hope Warren).

Used the new exit last week once.

BA is getting stupid.

It's Broken Arrow, which means the goal is to have the biggest billboards in the state.

Per the Tulsa World article, the developer is Danny Signorelli.  His company is from Houston (The Signorelli Company).

Here is a site plan I found online.  Not sure how current it is, but it does appear to confirm my suspicion that Warren Theatre will be coming to Broken Arrow with a similar complex to their Moore location.  This will be big for that area and will site right off the Creek Turnpike between 145th and 161st E. Ave.  Not sure what other retail/restaurants are planned but The Journal Record had an article a couple months ago that quoted the developer as saying his company had leasing agreements in hand for more than 100,000 SF.  He said they already crossed the threshold to break ground from a financial prospective, but they don't want to piecemeal this development.  Groundbreaking will hopefully occur at the beginning of 2013 and upon completion, will include at least 500,000 square feet of new retail.

No way, it's only like 30 acres of parking. They should have done 40!

Yeah...too bad the layout is like this and not more of a town center. I would have preferred the theater be more in the center. Just happy to see development along the turnpike.

Don't hold your breath on this deal...not enough roof tops and too close to the river.

Everyone that has moved to BA in the last 20 years wants it to be Tulsa.  Why didn't they just stay in Tulsa?

No official announcement yet on what will be included as part of the Warren Theatre in south Broken Arrow, but owner Bill Warren was quoted in the Wichita Business Journal yesterday:

Warren’s preparing to build a theater in Broken Arrow, Okla., that will be like Moore “on steroids,” but without an Imax because of competing Imax screens in the Tulsa area. “But it won’t make any difference,” he told me afterward.  He said he put about $45 million into Moore’s facility and will match that in Broken Arrow.

I would guess he is going to build the screens as big or bigger than a typical imax in order to get around the no compete clause.  At any rate, $45 million for a movie theater is not too shabby!

IMAX started licensing the name to non-IMAX screens like the one at AMC Southroads 20. Size isn't a requirement to be "IMAX" anymore.
