I'm looking for a place to celebrate my upcoming graduation from graduate school at TU with family visiting from Indiana. I've have certainly eaten lots of yummy food during my two years in Tulsa, but on a graduate student budget, I've mostly hit up local burger & sandwich joints, pubs & the like (which I have enjoyed thoroughly & will definitely be missed). I'm looking for someplace with good steaks & a unique experience, however, I am not interested in an upscale/fine dining atmosphere. Most of the places I'm finding online are more upscale than I would like (Michael Fuscos, Mahogany, etc.). Price really isn't the issue, I'd just like something more casual. Thinking along the lines of Cattleman's in OKC (I know I'm going to be reprimanded for mentioning OKC in comparison to Tulsa, so I apologize ahead of time!) Someplace with character & excellent food, without the frills?? Would love your thoughts!

Doe's on Cherry Street (15th & Quincy) has good steaks and is more of a casual place.  McGill's is more like Mahogany than Doe's but IMO a little more casual.  I recommend the location on 21st, really small and intimate setting and you can stroll through Utica Square before/after.  There is also a McGill's on the 19th floor of the Hard Rock casino and one on Lake Skiatook.  I haven't been to either of those though.

Go West has some steaks and is certainly an interesting experience.

Help me out here Townsend.
You say there is a German restaurant at the farm. My son has been taking German for three years now and he is all about anything German.
What kind of food are you talking here. Im not really up on German food and do you think that its someplace the whole family would enjoy ?

Margaret is actually Austrian but it's a German restaurant.  South of the Bank of America on the East side of the building.

Menu's on the site.  I almost always get the special.  If it was better for me, I'd be there every day.

I second Go West.  It's definitely a unique restaurant and very casual.  The facility is beautifully appointed and the food is not your run-of-the-mill menu.  It's all good.

If you are looking for character, RM nailed it in my opinion. For steaks, I rec Jamils, Bluestone, or Eddys (or my house on Saturdays). For German, Siegis.

Margarets in Farm is good.  I had forgotten about it.  Very casual last time I was in.

Dooley's Angus Inn on Main street in Broken Arrow is excellent.  Nice little environment.
Spudder used to be excellent, but haven't been there in many years!  (Actually, didn't know they were back in business.  Same people running it??)

Cattlemen's in either OKC or Ft. Worth are superb.

Oh, yeah... Congratulations on your graduation!!  (Got a job yet?  Good luck, too!!)
