SAND SPRINGS, OK -- Sand Springs' city manager will be leaving his post in mid-May to accept a job as the city manager of Bixby.

In a news release from the city of Sand Springs, Doug Enevoldsen's resignation was announced Monday evening.

Sand Springs' mayor Bob Walker made the announcement.

"We have become a very dynamic community with Doug's leadership, and the collaborative and cooperative tone that he set will continue," Walker said. "There are great things going on in our city, and Doug has been instrumental in helping us to lay out a blueprint for our future success."

Enevoldsen has been Sand Springs' city manager since 2006.

"Sand Springs is highly regarded among communities in the Tulsa area, and Doug played a major role in that effort," Walker said. "Doug has opened doors for us and opened up opportunities for us to work in partnership with regional, state and federal agencies."

In the release, Enevoldsen said he is looking forward to the challenges and opportunities that await in Bixby.

"I have appreciated my time in Sand Springs and the tremendous people I have built relationships with here in the community. It has been both a privilege and an honor to serve here as City Manager, and I'm thankful for having had the opportunity to do so. I commend and thank our City Council for their excellence and professionalism in conducting the City's business, and the City employees who are sincerely dedicated to giving this community their all every day," Enevoldsen said.

Assistant City Manager Kevin Nelson will carry on administrative duties while city council begins the search for a new city manager.

I don't know much about what goes on in the SS City Hall, but I dont think he'll be missed. I've lived here for four years and I'm really curious what the SS administration would call "achievements" in that time.
