Midtown Tulsa was chosen in the "Editor's Picks" list of "Best Old House Neighborhoods" in the nation by "This Old House" magazine.  Nice little bit of PR.  I guess the "walkable avenues" they refer to are Cherry Street and Brookside. We could use a bit more of that...

  I would say "walkable avenues" refers to the nature of the neighborhoods.  Front porches, tree lined streets, beautiful lawns, parking to the back, etc.  I would also say "no walls and high hedges" is a big plus.  I have been to similar neighborhoods in other cities that have been almost decimated and the streets turned into alleyways with home after home putting in walls and dense, tall hedges to block your view of the house.  Unfortunately its a trend that seems to be on the upswing here as well and little talked about.

The house pictured in the article is Codsen's "Mission Manor" located at 16th and Carson Ave. One of my favorite Tulsa homes.
