KISS and Buckcherry at the BOK Center 12/08/09.

Saw them at the Expo in 1986 for the Asylum tour.

Then saw them in Houston at the Summit in July of 1996 for their first reunion tour (with all four original members).  Best show ever.  Even though most of them were over forty, they put on a 2.5 hour show with a 45 minute encore.  Best 36 dollars plus gas money I ever spent.

I just don't think I could go see them now.

1977 or 1978 was when I saw Kiss.  I can't remember if it was at the Convention Center or Pavillion.

Was that the one they swore they'd never return after someone threw a booze bottle through Peter's drum set?

November 1977 at the Convention Center. I was home on fall break from college and my father scored me some backstage passes.

That's the one, it was part of my 12th birthday present, now that you mentioned the month/year.  My step-dad didn't think it was a big deal, my mom was horrified I was going to that show and was just sure I'd return as a total pot head.

Hoss, I'd always heard Peter Criss got hit in the mouth with a bottle the year before, which may have been at the Pavillion.

As I recall, Kiss used to open their shows with: "You wanted the best band in the land and you got it...KISS!!!!" Or some such thing.  The opening band for the show Michael and I were at was called "Detective", I think, and when they came on to open it went something like: "Tulsa, you wanted the best band in the land, but we fooled you!"  As if Kiss wasn't going to show up in retribution for the bottle incident.  Good show as I recall, but that's been many many years and Marshall's beers ago.

And they still do..."you wanted the best, you got the best...." Last time saw them was here on the Hot in Shade tour... 90 or 91 at the Pavillion. Also saw them in 1977 and 1979.

So, will it sell out?

Yeah, but the problem is that for the latter part of the seventies they may as well have been absent, with the substance abuse going on in both counts.  I will probably still go see them, since Gene and Paul still put on a hell of a show.
