So we can bulldoze it and put a 2-story 12,000 sq ft house on the lot?

Just what Brookside needs, another Tuscan nightmare.

Just talked to a guy today who is working on a new construction a mile east of there at 31st & Lewis. They had to tear out two houses to build it. 18,000 square feet of home!! The mansions in Maple Ridge are pitiful by contrast. That is the equivalent of the entire block I live on!

Who builds a home that size and why?

Well, at least there will be precious little of that green crap called grass and plant life around it that would need to be mowed.  Concrete up to the road.  Rah rah sis boom bah!  Density uber alles. Go for it.  NIMBY.

If I had 18,000 sq ft home, I would pad the floor, hang ropes from the ceiling, put on a leopard toga and swing from one end to the other with Baltimora playing on the whole house stereo.

In that case, let me know.  I'll be there with a 6 pack and a camera.

Congrats.

Did you just sell it to a recently engaged couple?  Just wondering because a friend of mine and his fiance just purchased one in that area.

Houses in that area go fast.  Most of the younger people I know (mid-late 20's) either live there or want to live there, basically from 41st north to where it gets too expensive around 31st on either side of Peoria.  Proximity to Brookside, two grocery stores, the river, and fairly close to downtown are big reasons.  The only gripe?  A lot of 2/3 bedroom homes with only 1 bathroom.
