They're gonna need a lot more than just one store to compete with Walgreen's.
BTW, I despise Walgreen's.

If this is the first CVS, it won't be the last. And they are better than Walgreens.

That is the third CVS coming down the pipe.
1. 71st & Yale (they are doing site prep now) 2. 31st & Harvard 3. 61st & Lynn Lane

So we have:
1. 71st & Yale (they are doing site prep now) 2. 41st & Harvard 3. 121st and Elm (Jenks) 4. 61st & Lynn Lane (Broken Arrow) 5. I hear a drug store is looking at southwest corner of 121st and Elm in Broken Arrow near a Walmart Supercenter. Probably CVS since Walgreens is a mile away at 111th and Walmart is close.

I have never lived in an area where CVS was located. What makes them superior to Walgreens or to Med-ex or any other pharmacy in town?

Yes, they are planning a whole shoppig center with CVS as the anchor. Unlike some of the locations that are further along, this is a ground lease and dependent on the whole development taking off. I would say "Walgreens" does have similarities with another "Wal" store. For example you won't see advertised "3 T-shirts for $5" at CVS. I would say the food sections are comparable but I haven't seen all the generic brands of food walgreens has at CVS and they don't have giant toy/pet food and seasonal sections. They seem more like a drugstore and then a small grocery (and beer) sections so it can do as a grocery store in a pinch. I also have seen a lot more urban/downtown CVS's than other chains (fingers crossed)

An article in the TW from last year noted that CVS is moving into the Tulsa market, with their first store to indeed be the 71st/Yale location, at the site of the old Bennigan's. The report goes on to state the store will be completed this fall and be apx 12000 sqft.
