I, also heard this was a possibility....

Hopefully the Cherokees are smart and partner with OSU. Otherwise it seems like a pretty big gamble.

Hmmm.

The Cherokees step up to buy a hospital that largely supports the OSU Medical program, that's strongest programs are in family and rural medicine, that in turn would support large portions of the Native American population in Oklahoma.  Everything comes full circle.

This might end up being a very good thing and it would make sense because of all the money the Cherokee's have been investing in clinics to provide services to their members.  Many people criticize the Indian casinos, but this would be an outstanding use of some of that money.  I really hope this is true, because it is an indicator that the Cherokees "get it" and hopefully the rest of the citizens and leaders of Tulsa will start to "get it" too, soon.

Chris

If the Cherokees do buy it will it become an "Indian Only" or "Tribe Preference" hospital?

I do not know a lot about all of this, but it seems to me that I keep hearing about how the medical district in OKC is expanding, OU getting 100million dollar expansions, etc. yet Tulsa "the only metropolitan city in the nation without a publicly funded hospital" cant keep this facility open?

Whats going on here? Is this another case of our representatives not doing their jobs and getting us our share?

I would hope one of the tribes sees fit to make use of the facility...

Maybe geriatric medicine / casino / triage[}:)]

This is one set of circumstances that I think is connected to old Tulsa money...

St Francis will turn this into a cost savings / staff reduction budget item.
