Rabies Cases Up In Oklahoma
06-06-2005 10:58 AM

(Oklahoma City, OK) -- Officials with the Oklahoma Health Department say the number of rabies cases in the state is on the rise this year. So far this year, there have been 48 confirmed cases of rabies, mostly in wild skunks and mostly in Central and Western Oklahoma. The average number of cases for the first five months is 40. Epidemiologist Kristy Bradley tells the "Daily Oklahoman" newspaper that there is no clear answer as to why cases are running high this year. Pet owners are reminded to make sure their animal vaccinations are current.
