Don't Dismiss Michael Steele

Just because he has been an ineffective RNC chairman doesn't mean he isn't also held to a different standard.

Perhaps the worst public-relations sin an American can commit is blaming his problems on something other than himself, especially when the scapegoat is ethnicity, gender, or race. One would have thought Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele would have known that. But apparently his current troubles are such a distraction that, when given the bait, he was reduced to blurting out what he felt to be the truth.

If I recall right, it takes a super majority to remove the RNC chairman and so far at least, those opposed to Steele haven't been able to muster the votes.  Newt and some of the other Republican luminaries have taken another tack.  They've started a parallel organization with the intention of siphoning off Republican donors until the RNC runs out of cash and forces Steele's replacement.  Still, the last I heard, the RNC had about ten times the cash of the Democratic National Committee. 

Gosh, you really have to feel sorry for them being downtrodden and all.
