Post by: tulsamatt on November 03, 2005, 07:09:53 am
St. Antony Orthodox Christian Church announces its 29th Annual Fall Festival Hafli Gourmet Dinner and Bake Sale. Homemade Lebanese cuisine will be featured at this event that runs from Thursday, November 3rd through Sunday, November 6th. The church, located at 6th and Columbia, is just west of the University of Tulsa campus, adjacent to the track & soccer field. The Fall Festival, or Hafli as it is also known, will be open from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Thursday; from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm on Friday and Saturday; and from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Sunday.

Fall Festival/Hafli is a long time Tulsa tradition, with the original celebration going back some 70 years. Over 2000 meals will be served during the 4-day event.

The menu features an inviting variety of authentic Lebanese food. This year’s unique main course features a Boneless Grilled Chicken Breast and a Beef Kafta Patty served over Hashwa (a blend of rice, beef and almonds). Each meal will also include Tabouli, Hummus, Pita Bread, Greba (butter) Cookie, Iced Tea and Coffee. Come join us for a taste treat that will bring you back year after year!

Meal tickets are $12 for adults, $5 for children 10 and under.  Tickets may be purchased at the church or you may call 584-7300 and charge them to your credit card. Phone-in orders will be accepted during the event by calling 584-4116.

Several area small businesses have made Hafli an early holiday company tradition, ordering Friday lunch to-go orders for all of their employees. Donations of non-perishable food items will be accepted during Hafli, with all items going to the Kendall-Whittier Neighborhood Food Bank.

Most of the meal items will be available for purchase ala carte, including many things not on the main menu, such as our famous cabbage rolls and delicious meat pies and baked kibbe. In addition, our bake sale offers guests a number of traditional fresh baked goods to take home, such as brownies, fudge, cookies, cakes, breads, & pies, as well as our always-favorite baklawa, greba, & mamoul cookies. Also, don’t forget to save room for a delicious baklawa ice cream sundae!

Church tours will be available in the evenings, and a cookbook featuring all of the meal recipes can be purchased on site at our bookstore.
