I don't know why everyone is predicting "fail".
My guess, like most constantly rebranded nightclub concepts, it will make buckets of cash for a while before being rebranded something else.
The Full Moon Cafe's was the goto bachelorette spot.   I assume there is currently a void.

I was witness to the saddest bachelorette party ever a couple of weeks ago at Pepper's. So sad.

I'd guess a store selling nothing but a particular kind of bracelets would be a fail.  Or a designer home goods store in a small town in rural Oklahoma.  Or a bicycle themed bar in a dead part of a dying downtown.  Or any number of ventures that I don't realize how big the potential market is or have the knowledge or drive to make it work.

Then again, one turned into a sizable brand name, one draws headlines with how busy they are, and one is an absolute legend in its target market.

Maybe a unicorn bar will fail.  But my guess is the people who have worked in the nightclub business and are putting their own money in have a better grasp at the chances than we do.  It doesn't sound like we are the target market here...

I don't know about this, but really I'm just surprised that they are seemingly abandoning the typical night club market. With club majestic having it's emphasis on lgbt, where do people go when they just want a standard club scene in this town now? Seems like a major void in the market...

There are places that bring in DJ's at night, such as Fassler Hall and Sound Pony, but no actual typical night clubs now? Is this part of a larger trend where bars that double as night clubs are pushing out night club only formats?

Visited last Wednesday.  Was blow away at the amount of business that place was doing.  There was a 2-3 hr wait for the restaurant at 1:30pm (WED, 1:30pm, line down the street, Pawhuska).
I thought there had to be some sort of special event / book-signing going on.  But apparently it was a rather typical line for business.

I'm 50/50.. I am not sure how much they are trying to exclude men from this. Trying to get a huge chunk of the population to not go to your place isn't necessarily the best move.  It could bring more women/girls nights down. Then you lose women who have boyfriends or husbands that go out.  Either way it might be better than what Electric Circus was doing.

I think you'll find a large portion of Oklahoma thinks alcohol is devil juice.  So no.

I also (as strange as the concept seems to me...) wish them well.  But your comparison of Pioneer Woman and Rustic Cuff doesn't work.  Both of those physical locations are primarily successful based on their National exposure from other sources. The unicorn bar won't have that.   Soundpony is a closer comparison, but still it's not exactly the same.   Soundpony is a standard dive bar with a cycling theme.  Even non-riders aren't uncomfortable in Soundpony.   I do suspect that there will be a significant portion of the populace that won't be as comfortable with a shiny unicorn bar. 

But if there are enough comfortable people to keep them in business, then rock on.  Diversity is cool.

I don’t know if it’ll succeed or fail, but something other than another brew pub/sports bar theme seems like a good idea.  Also, in my observation, if ladies show up at this place, guys will follow.

Somebody told me they don't want guys in there.  If you read their model their goal is girl time with no guys.  You can't really choose who shows up to your place. But if you purposefully give bad service to people it will work itself out.

That’s fine too, if that’s what they want.  However, economics usually wins out over ideology.

Cutting out 49% of possible clientele seems like poor planning.   

Or....(and I understand the joke)

Take two.  Declare one of them as the designated driver and enjoy your beer without having to share.

The glittery unicorn bar might fail.  It might be a great success.  

I was inside Electric Circus only once, for a few seconds.  It seemed a bit depressing and boring to me, but that's just my perspective.

The idea of a unicorn bar seems ridiculously stupid, but again, that's only my perspective.  The whole concept sounds worthless and inane to me.
 

I might be missing something here.  I must have a totally different definition of unicorn....

But then, I don't appreciate bars much anyway.  Ever since Mom's on east Admiral (NOT south Lewis!) and Snakepit on 15th east of Lewis went out, bars just haven't been that interesting...

OK, this got me thinking.   What makes a good bar, and what are "the best" (I know it's subjective) classic bars in Tulsa?  I'm talking places that don't serve food (or at least not much beyond some bar food), maybe have a pool table or shuffleboard, etc.  The main attraction is sitting and drinking and talking, etc.  Also has to be safe enough that I'm worried about getting out alive.

I used to love the old Arnie's before the move, and I like the Mercury Lounge, and even Soundpony if I'm in a bike-centric frame of mind (but that doesn't really fit what I'm thinking).   

Suggestions?

It closed there around 1998, I think, and then re-opened in the Blue Dome district around 2000.

I remember Arnies on either 13th or 15th in the late 70s.  I don't remember which.  I went there after class with my professor and class mates after class was over (a few times).

When I was in the Navy in the 70s, I went to a dive bar because I liked the people. I would not have gone there except a couple of friends "dragged" me there.  I became good friends with the weekend DJ and stayed at his place for a month after I got out of active duty.  I don't know how this helps this thread but it is my experience.

The two I mentioned would not be considered "good" bars by your parameters.  They were like the old Avalon was before it became all steakhouse - "sawdust on the floor to soak up the blood from the knife fights" kind of places...   Old, wild west style, I would say.  Avalon was for cowboys, Mom's and Snakepit were biker bars...and not the mini-van Progressive insurance kind of biker...

Used to be another one that was a little more upscale around the corner, north of 15th on Lewis - right behind Massad's and the Delman - can't remember the name of the place for some reason.  Knew several who got into serious knife and sledgehammer related events there - one died...David Marshall - RIP!
