Title: Tulsa's 2015 Polar Bear Plunge
Post by: sauerkraut on November 04, 2014, 01:35:40 pm
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uQ3SbRboCFU   >>> This video is  the 2014 Polar Bear Plunge recorded by someone who took part in the race. I'm  in that video  somewhere. Over 600 runners took part. I was in Heat#2. The event starts off with a two mile run then you dive into icy pool number one, climb out and run soaking wet to pool number two, climb out and run soaking wet to pool number three dive to the bottom of the icy water and pull out your medal and then dash to the finish line. It's tuff, it's brutal and it tests your endurance. I did the 2013 Polar Bear event  and that one was worse than the 2014 event  because it was really cold that day.

What's going on- so far there is not a Polar bear Event for Tulsa this year (2015)- the old location can't be used because of construction going on. I'm getting a bit worried, January first is less than 30 days away!

It'll be a big disapointment if there is no Polar Bear Plunge in Tulsa this year. The Polar Bear Plunge  is world-wide event done on January first.

So much for having a discussion about something in Tulsa, or asking a question.

Just came to my email, it’s being combined with Commitment Day at Lifetime Fitness at 105th (or wherever it is on S. Memorial).

Isn't that the Hoity Toity gym that members drive nothing under 40K and wear jewelry and drink wine in the hot tub?

Ok the 2015 Polar Bear Plunge will be held at the Life-Style Fitness Center. It will have a shorter run of 1.5 miles instead of the 2 mile run they had last year, and 3 plunges into the icy drink it  also features a 35' high slide. How'd ya like to slide into freezing water at a high rate of speed from 35 feet up? :)

Reminds me of my first marriage...

Color me crazy but I did the Polar Bear Plunge at the Life Time Fitness Center. About 400 runners took part. It was cold and brutal - but afters we had free access to the fitness club and the heated indoor pool, the hot tub and my favorite the 160 degree sauna room. I needed that to stop shivering.
