What makes this restaurant unique:  This is a great taste of New Orleans that is hard to find in Tulsa.

Tell us about your experience:  These people have a hit on their hands.  The line was to the door even at 12:30 but it was only maybe a 10 minute wait to order.  Menu is limited to muffaleta (one for us meateterians and one for the vegetarians) about six Po Boy options, red beans & rice, Jambalaya, and gumbo.

I did their “Pick 2” so I could try a cup of their jambalaya and a shrimp po’ boy without eating twice what I needed to for lunch.  The pick 2 is a reduced portion amount of any two items you want to combine.  Shrimp was nice and crisp, their “WOW” sauce is basically a spicy aioli and really good.  I loved the jambalaya, great sausage and pulled chicken in it.  The interior is bright, clean, and inviting.

Well worth the drive over for lunch today.  I do believe they take phone in orders if you are in a hurry, 918-582-NOLA.

Don’t forget to drop into Decopolis next door.  William has added a lot of neat items as well as books.

6th and boston in the parking garage.

Lunch only, but with the size of their space they run out of food often so expanding to dinner service is problematic.

What about supper?

Dinner is the main meal of the day.

Breakfast - Lunch - Dinner
Breakfast - Dinner - Supper

Growing up blue collar South, supper was interchangeable with dinner. The last meal of the day. Sofa was a couch.Never heard of a davenport. Soda pop, just pop or coke meant a carbonated drink.

No. No.  In rural SW OK, that long thing is the living room that you sit on is a Divan (DeVan), not a couch or a sofa...

Technically you haven't shown for any mealtime meetings, so as far as we know you don't eat at all.

He crawls back in his box as the sun rises.  Notice he never mentions anything about garlic either?

Mmmmm....garlic!!

That's probably the biggest thing that would keep me from ever being a vampire - well, that and the fact they don't really exist - I love garlic!

Al La Salle (La Salle’s Bicycles) is still around.  I have the opportunity to ride with him on occasion.

Yeah, we often called it the divan. Haven't used that word in decades.

I guess I better limit my memory of word use to the area north of 11th, west of Lewis and south of Admiral. Hillcrest/TU/Kendall area. It was couch over there!

Table Talk: Lassalle's to move to larger space downtown

Quote
Lassalle’s New Orleans Deli, a popular lunch spot at 601 S. Boston Ave., is moving to the Pythian Building in mid summer.

“It’s a larger location at the Pythian Building where the former Quiznos was,” said Chris West, who owns Lassalle’s with his wife, Amanda.

“We will be adding a significant amount of new menu items and will have a full-point beer license. Our emphasis will be on Louisiana and Oklahoma breweries.”

Among Lassalle’s most popular items are muffulettas, a variety of po’ boys, red beans and rice, gumbo, jambalaya, Amaretto bread pudding, chocolate chip cookies and sugar cookies.

West said the target date for the move is late July.

“We also will be adding Friday nights at the start to our hours of operation and more nights in the future according to how business goes,” he said.

The Wests are natives of New Orleans. They settled in Tulsa in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and opened Lasalle’s in 2014.

The ornate Pythian Building, 423 S. Boulder Ave., is known for its two-story lobby with colorful tile patterns, metal work, chandeliers and a fluted glass skylight.

Good to hear they are getting a larger space, but I do enjoy having them on Boston Ave.

What's with people moving out of those spaces below the parking garage?

Well considering both tenants said they are moving to larger spaces, you can kind of do the math.

I heard the parking garage building got new owners and they raised rents. Glad to see LaSalle's is planning on opening on Friday nights (and hopefully expanding to other nights). There are so many times I want to take friends there, only to remember they're open just for lunch.

Lassalle's have been looking to move to a bigger space and move towards opening some evenings for quite some time.  Finally found what they believe to be the right space.  They are great folks and I love their food.  I wish them well.

Where is on 5th between Main and Boulder - where the Quizinos was in 2014ish.

When is still not official yet, but they've been posting stuff on facebook and instagram that hints to sooner rather than later
