Title: 13th and Utica Post by: carltonplace on April 01, 2014, 01:48:25 pm I noticed that every house, duplex and apartment between 13th St and 13th Pl and Utica to Troost is boarded up.

Bumgarner was at one time involved in the empty lots proposing an office building a few years back. Both would be great for mixed-use office and residential with high visibility.

I was told that there was a lot of objection when he tried to build there. Still his property I believe. As for boarded up homes on 13th, I noticed them too. I'm guessing Hillcrest bought them. I wonder the same thing. This area would make the most sense, proximity to St John/Hillcrest and Utica Square/Cherry Street. It would be nice to have a Westin in Tulsa. The one in particular I'm thinking of is by Saint Francis South, 91st and Hwy 169. There is a hotel there by the ramp. Title: Re: 13th and Utica Post by: AquaMan on April 08, 2014, 12:33:52 pm My understanding is that Trinity Ministries was(is?) a group of First Lutheran members who purchased the one story apartments catecorner to the church and converted them to senior citizens housing about a decade ago. They intended to also develop the empty lot and the nearby two story apartments between Utica and Troost owned by the Church for that purpose but got slammed by the economic meltdown. They may have now purchased that block. Still searching.
Hillcrest wrested Benedict Park from the city and wanted the church too. It was a bit of a defensive movement by the church to buy the block south of the church to keep from being hemmed in. |
